I find this mad.

We have a really good amount of clean sheets this season. On the eye they all look like they are struggling but somehow they are getting the job done one way or another.

Agreed. We've generally been alright at the back this season bar a few brain farts here and there. But it's chalk and cheese compared to the last two seasons.

People want there to be literally no mistakes ever. Which is of course, impossible.

No. I think we need to get a decent LB in during the summer to start next season. In the meantime we should have retained either Galloway or Oviedo.

..i think a LB will be on the shopping list. I too was surprised Galloway was allowed to leave but I think it reflects that RK simply doesn't want him. I assume Oviedo was ahead of him in the pecking order but RK thought the opportunity to move him on was too good to turn down.

We're going through a period of change.

Galloway will be given a chance in pre-season IMO.

He was sent out on loan to try and improve him defensively. We were insistent on there not been a clause to buy him at the end of it, so I think that indicates RK doesn't want him gone completely...

That's good then, I think he has been a bit 'dodgy' at times this season (Holgate champing at the bit) but, managers have favourites and it's their team/job etc. With a defender of Koemans stature, I would hope that Mori would improve.

Holgate isn't ready to play in a two mate - or he hasn't been at least for large parts of the season.

Now, with all the injuries, he may get a chance to do just that later on.

I think Jagielka was dropped earlier in the season cos he made individual errors whereas Mori was dropped cos there was multiple errors and someone had to make way for a change. Williams is Koemans man as such so was more likely to retain his place as both were equally bad. Jagielka deserved another chance so Mori was dropped.

After Coleman, Williams has been our best defender this season IMO.

Looks much more comfortable in a back three though I think.

I dont know why. I seem to remember Galloway having a storming game against the Dutchman's Southampton last season down there. No one could have failed to have been impressed with his game that day. He never gave Galloway a chance, and my guess is that he played politics: he knew that Baines was insecure under Martinez for his position with Galloway and Oviedo taking 'his' spot on a regular basis. Well, Koeman moved to avoid that repeat performance and has left us without cover.

I suggest he makes good his error this summer (if Barcelona or Madrid haven't snapped him up for finishing 7th in the PL) and get a decent LB in and kick Baines to the kerb. This is a business, it's not a charity. Baines isn't up to it. Get rid and get someone in who is up to it.

Bertrand. I'd also take Robertson. Each are better bets at LB than a 32 year old semi-crocked player who cant defend.

He's 28 this year, they'd want a fortune for him and his stats are worse than Baines this season, he's crap shout imo.

Robertson impressed me when Hull came to Goodison the other week, but I'm not sure he's good enough for a side that's ambition is to push the Top 4.

Bertrand
Robertson
Cheeky bid for Luke Shaw....or as part ex for Lukaku.

Any will be better than Baines.
