Footy really has hit rock bottom when pundits and their views take precedence over football men steeped in decades of the game at the top. It's mad. I mean, who is this feller Vickery anyway? He's some no mark who lives in Argentina and blogs about footy.

i'm not placing so much weight on vickerys opinion but just because those managers have picked him doesnt count for much.

Argentina have a few crap players (as do a lot of international teams). River plate have even more.

Ive not read much about this lad that suggests he's an exceptional talent so i have low hopes of him being a success here considering the things i do know about him and his age

I dont have any idea what he'll be like, tbh. If I'd seen him play and not been impressed then I'd agree with Vickery. But I only have the bare facts to go on: he's won a major trophy and he's just been called up by the WC runners up. I know that's no guarantee, but I'd be open minded at the very least...certainly not put off by some self regarding footy blogger.

i really don't think it's his work permit especially if the poster who says he works at passport office is telling truth.

There are plenty of football pundits in this country who get called clueless on a regular basis, there is no difference here except that he lives in South America. That does not make him a genius with regard to football in that country just like Robbie Savage isn't a genius about football in England.
