Fairly sure McCarthy should be fit for the start of the season. He was talking about being ready for pre season. Reckon we will get someone willing to take a punt on him as there’s definitely a player there.

You’re right unfortunately. Just hope they’re ready to do it at the 1st opportunity. He should have been offloaded long ago.

But brands and Silva have bought in to balance the books anything to else is a bonus. The wage bill will go down not up

Who told you that? They’ve said they want to trim the squad. Can’t work with 40, aiming for 25 etc..

Of course they’ll want to trim the waste. You look at our highest paid players & most of them don’t feature in the 1st eleven or even 17!!! That’s colossal waste.

Not heard anyone say we have to reduce the overall wage bill. If we finish 5th next season with a squad of 25 all contributing & the wage bill has gone up 20%, that would be a better return on investment than the mess we’re in now.

Exactly how it works actually. The contract is amortised over the period and any fee above book value would result in a profit. The normal fan, me included, only see a profit if it's above cost but that wouldn't be the accounting practice.

I don't think I was talking about profit. Can't a club can't ask what they want for a player? The amortiswhatever doesn't dictate the fee. See : Ross Barkley.

40k a week allegedly.

He got a decent amount of money from the transfer from River Plate if I remember the story at the time correctly hence the fee going up by loads at the last minute.
