RBL Matchday
Going to take a couple of hours off Everton since it's just gone bonkers and Leipzig are back next week officially but have a live friendly this afternoon against FD Mladá Boleslav (Czech I think). Not much to say about team news, it's basically using who is fit, trying out a couple of kids. Apparently Bayindir (15) and Eduardo (16) have been really impressive in the recent behind closed door friendlies (lost to Eintracht 4-2 and beat some random team like 15-0). The game will be 4x 25 minute quarters. Timo Werner back on the bench after injury. Nkunku still a month or so away.
General RBL news:
- All but confirmed Nkunku will go to Chelsea in the Summer for his £60m release clause. It's annoying they have to put these low release clauses in to try keep players for another year since he's worth double that but I guess it's guaranteed money every year and easier to manage the books.
- Also all but confirmed Laimer will go to Bayern for free in Summer. He was my favourite player, he's not my least favourite. Properly Barkley'd the club there.
- Gvardiol looks like he'll be staying beyond the Summer and has a +£100m release clause that can be activated in 2024.
- Olmo, who goes into last 12 months of deal this Summer, rumoured to be signing a new deal with a lowish release clause similar to Werner, Upa, Nkunku before him. If not he'll be sold this Summer.
- Eberl (new DoF) pretty much confirming there'll be no incomings this January but I wouldn't be surprised if deals aren't made that activate in the Summer like with Sesko.
- Naturally lots of midfield links with Laimer going with the most prominent being Manu Kone (Gladbach) who would be amazing and also Ardon Jashiri (youngster, less proven). Seen some links to other positions like Sutalo and Rafael Marin at CB but that position is less important if Gvardiol stays. Also linked to John Tolkin (LB) of NY Red Bulls, no idea if he's any good.
- Hugo Nova has gone on an 18-month loan to FC Basel for game time, Caden Clark is back and they're looking to send him out into Europe this time.
- Florian Scholz, commercial director, moving on to Red Bull itself. Replacement to be hired by Eberl.
