Reading vs. Everton

Shows the obvious lack of quality in the squad. We rely on arteta too much and if he's not performing on the day we struggle to play anything decent.

Reading are looking like us of a couple of years ago, fight like hell, defend like your kids lives depend on it and if you nick a goal, hang on for dear hell.

got us to 4th....

Can't win them all. However looks like Hibbert could well be the weak link in a squad that is now developing well. Must say though still not over the moon about McF.

A few observations:

1) I'm guessing that we'll be seeing either Neville or Jags in for Hibbert now. Just a bit late today on covering Hunt and it cost us. To be fair, Hunt would have run anyone ragged today but he exposed Hibbert quite a few times.

2) McFadden in 30 minutes was more dangerous than Anichebe his first two and a half games. Anichebe's touch is horrible and he can't control a ball to save his life. Faddy on the other hand was pretty dangerous every time he touched the ball and looked up for it. Anichebe may be the future but it isn't gonna be anytime soon. Assuming no changes to the squad, I'd partner Faddy with AJ next week.

3) Speaking of AJ. Tough for him to get around Bikey today. Unlucky on the post but it was that kind of day.

4) Missed Yobo.

5) Valente's defending was fair but his distribution was good. Still would rather have a Neville, Stubbs, Yobo, Lescott combination.

6) Really off days for Arteta and Osman. Tough when both of your attacking midfielders disappear.

7) Pienaar looked ok but a few give aways. Still would like to see what he can do for an entire match.

All in all, not an underserved result as we knew it would be a tough match. I think 1-1 would have been fair as well but it just wasn't our day. Roll on next week and aim for another 3 points.

4 first teamers out, and no side plays to 100% every game.

cahill
vaughan
yobo
baines

plus it was a bad day at the office. reading played well first half, and we lacked the X factor. now lets sign cowell and get his saggy moobs on the pitch.

Watching a different game eh?

He was easily our most dangerous player the last 30 minutes of the match.

Easily.

He just earned himself a start in front of Anichebe next week.

I know, better days ahead for us though Jim, just an off day that's all.

To be fair some of the concerns Suits expressed on Tuesday seemed to apparent today, we will come good I'm sure. It is vital that Manny helps Mikel in midfield, he simply cannot be left to carry the midfield burden all by himself. Another day and another dollar, in the words of Chico 'sack the board, moyes out and all that crap' One interesting point is the fact that Wigan slammed Sunderland 3 - 0 so as a form guide we're doing well.(y) (y)

Are you off to the pub?(y)

Roll on Blackburn, thats all i can say.

If we sign 2/3 players this week, this will be forgotten, a bad day at the office, although it was [Poor language removed] terrible.

I thought we should of kept the spurs team, cus everyone deserved there place, but now we need to change it.

I agree to an extent, we have got limitations. When we have no man in midfield to really back Arteta up, and then when he has a poor game we suffer. Valente just seemed to constantly give the ball away, and AJ for me needs to be more sharp.

We were forced into making a change, but in my mind he made the wrong one, he should have brought Jags into defence and kept Lescott out wide.

Is it me TX or did he seem easily intimidated, he lost possession quite a few times going by the radio commentary I listened to(y)

Pienaar also was involved in our better moves.

Anichebe didn't look even slightly interested. At the beginning of the game, he gave up on a ball he could have got, IF he persevered.

McFadden should deffo start. Lovely bit of play saw him hit the bar. And, it didn't look like a dive inthe box that he got carded for. He got up not looking for a penalty and turns to see a yellow?

Lescotts card was HARSH! the dude was all over Lescott, then wrestles him to the ground.

Bikey had an outstanding day. Calm on the ball, immovable, and match for match with Johnson.

Arteta. What the hell was up with him today. Couldn't do past anybody, could only pick out White and Blue with his set pieces. Poor.

Ossie was poor today.

Well, you win some, you loose some. Our team was off today. Reading deserved the win IMO.
