Reasons for optimism...

You don’t have to cry while telling us that, tommye!!

This is the least optimistic I’ve ever felt about Everton. I just want this season over with, whether we survive or not, and just start (another) clean slate in the Summer. We need reinventing from top to bottom.

New manager, new DoF, no money but a load of wasters gone. Feel like I say it every year but this is the most important summer in years for me.

I think it's possible to have said that for the last 5 years and it still be true of this summer.

It's just that our ambitions have slid from trying to break the top 6 to trying to stay in the top 17.

I think regardless of how this season plays out from here, this summer is absolutely critical. The response to the disaster of this season has to be huge.

Everything hinges on us retaining our top flight status I feel.

If we can stay up, I’d like to think we’ve learned our lessons.

We’ve brought in Tim Cahill, who actively pushed for Lampard, I’m hoping they can, along side the new DOF, really start to find some gems and clear out some of the dross, then I’m satisified.

Make a project (AGAIN), build from your mistakes and importantly stop Moshiri and Billy Bull interfering and we can build something good. Unfortunately the last paragraph, I have zero confidence in.

the only positive is that, despite us being in some of our worst ever form , there's still 3 teams beneath us

Bottom of the league seems to get weaker and weaker every year

Actually I would love to see more of him. Great passing and never say die attitude. Annoys the hell out of opposite players around him. Lamps should play him on 10 in a diamond behind dcl and with richy left. A bit like Ancelotti did with James.
Same. But I'd guess there is a reason he isn't really playing.

We need to be less reactionary about results at the moment, feel good factor of Thurs to absolute depression on Sun. Truth is we should be somewhere in between. Job of work is to back this team until the end of the season.

Couldn't agree more. Truth is, we're rubbish at the moment, and what we're looking for now is (for example) 1 win in 3, and ensuring we don't go on lengthy runs without a win.

“... a failing setup leading this so-called strategic review won't wash.”
Maybe, just maybe , this strategic review will do a root and branch job and actually put In place changes that will make our club better . We all have our favourite areas we’d like to see changes in , for me it’s the Academy/ u23s set up . It goes further than just blaming Unsworth, we just haven’t got the players coming through , we lose Allan for 3 games and there’s no one close enough in the u23s to step up, although Onyango is injured. My one hope is that this area changes dramatically in the years to come.

I don’t think this strategic review by the ones mostly doing the damage to the club are going to sack themselves, they will just carry on as the main culprit will instruct them to, there is no way in the near future he will give up as he should have done years ago.
