Reasons To Be Cheerful; Volume 1

I've just read in the media that this season will be the first time in 25 years that Arsenal have finished outside the top six. Wow! That's quite a statistic, especially when you throw in all the trophies over those years.
And yet....
Their fans moan and bitch more than kopites!
But this got me thinking my Blue friends.
We may not have been awash with trophies over the last few years but consider these facts.
1. We have more seasons in the top division than ANY other English club; Wow!
2. We have 66 consecutive years in the top flight; double Wow!
3. Only a handful of English clubs have more trophies than us.
Yes we've had some crap managers and players over the years but statistics like ours don't happen by accident.
There is something inherently good and optimistic about our club and deep down, there always has been.
Be proud and be cheerful my friends. Almost 90 English clubs would swap their situation for ours any day of the week.
Onwards and upwards Carlo!

Spot on. Never seen us lift a trophy (was 1 when we won in 1995) and that's sad. Not that arsed about longevity records, not satisfied to sit still and be grateful we're in the top flight.. that's small time behaviour.

It's only Everton's history that allows one to be so peeved at the doldrums of recent decades.

Overall I'm happy we have Carlo, we have Brands and Moshiri (hopefully with Usmanov being the puppet master).

We may not reach the holy land but I'm happy we have the right people with the right intentions and we are trying.

I weirdly often think about how Man Utd fans must've been feeling over the past few years. As mega successful as they have been during the Prem era, they've now seen themselves well and truly leapfrogged by City and the kopites and that can't feel nice. That Aguero moment pretty much changed their fortunes and have never really looked that same outfit since, chopping and changing constantly since SAF left.

I guess what I'm trying to say is.. is our plight much worse than theirs?

There will eventually come a point when you get to see the official club confirmation that Fabian Delph has left Everton. It might be his contract expiring, it might be for a fee, but it will eventually happen.

It keeps me going, at least; I call it 'The Koeman Effect'.
