Reasons To Be Cheerful; Volume 1

As Arsenal have never been relegated, they must beat that 66 seasons...maybe even the other world record for unbroken seasons

We have more seasons in the top flight, they have the longest top flight streak.

They have been relegated (well Woolwich Arsenal did) but since they changed their name to just Arsenal when they came back up in 1919 they have been there ever since.

The reason to be optimistic is that we’ve pretty much messed up as badly as is possible to do so under Koeman and Allardyce and we’re still in the league with Ancelotti managing us and players like Digne and Richarlison in the squad.

For the first time in a long time we have managerial stability and money to pay wages/buy players. It could be an exciting time ahead.

In the early years the game of football was thought to be to rough for us so we wasn't called "Southern Softies" for no reason :p

Their promotion after the war would never have been allowed these days and shouldn't have been allowed then. They came 6th in Div 2 the previous season but a few back handers smoothed their path into the top division.
Yes, I’ve always believed that Arsenal were invited into the top flight that season, they never won their way back up.

I weirdly often think about how Man Utd fans must've been feeling over the past few years. As mega successful as they have been during the Prem era, they've now seen themselves well and truly leapfrogged by City and the kopites and that can't feel nice. That Aguero moment pretty much changed their fortunes and have never really looked that same outfit since, chopping and changing constantly since SAF left.

I guess what I'm trying to say is.. is our plight much worse than theirs?

Yeah but United fans are coming off a period, where their club ruled over all and sundry, in a twenty year domination of english football. Even in Uniteds so called barren era, they have won 1 FA Cup 1 League Cup and 1 Europa League, and the managers that won those honours, are considered as failures at Old Trafford. As for Everton we haven't won the league in 33 years, and we haven't been good enough to challenge for the title in that period either. One major trophy or two if you count the charity shield, since our last league title win, tells it's own story of the scale of our decline. But we have a great manager, hopefully a new stadium, so hopefully things will change for the better, sooner rather than later.
