Reasons To Be Cheerful; Volume 1

I weirdly often think about how Man Utd fans must've been feeling over the past few years. As mega successful as they have been during the Prem era, they've now seen themselves well and truly leapfrogged by City and the kopites and that can't feel nice. That Aguero moment pretty much changed their fortunes and have never really looked that same outfit since, chopping and changing constantly since SAF left.

I guess what I'm trying to say is.. is our plight much worse than theirs?

Way worse.

Way, way worse.

They have won about ten league titles, two European Cups and countless domestic cups since we last won owt.

Plus they are well placed to mount a challenge next seaon....we are light years away.

United’s travails do not in any way diminish the shambles this club has been for the past 25 years.

to paraphrase an old friend of mine many years ago "just think how lucky you are, of all the teams in the world, you were lucky enough to be born a blue!"
I’m sorry but it’s been many many years since I felt that way, and my son and grandson now feel the same pain, 1 trophy that’s all I ask just for them, 1 ragarse trophy to celebrate together and I’ll die a happy man.

In the spirit of the thread I totally plan to vault this next year when we hold the double.

I've just read in the media that this season will be the first time in 25 years that Arsenal have finished outside the top six. Wow!
This year will be the 25 out of the last 25 years that Everton have finished the season with an empty trophy cabinet. Luckily I've been watching Everton for a lot longer than that so I've seen league titles, fa cups and a European trophy but the younger ones don't know success and the way things are going at the moment, they may have to wait a long, long time for the return of any success.

Branthwaite has blew me away, I know it's a small sample but the lad looks so comfortable wasn't expecting it at all and it's a huge positive for me, Gordon as well even though he pussied out of the shot.

Nice bit of positivity, but based more on reminiscing and stuff that nobody really cares about in the real world.
An example being point 3) as the trophies one means jack when you haven’t won one in 25 years lol

I personally am proud of the past success of the club and find that those that play down the importance of past successes are usually fans of clubs with little historic success/relevance.
