The HTC One X is a good phone, it's a lovely design and is made of high grade materials, the screen is also excellent and the sound quality is very good too. It just annoys me that HTC have made that totally irrelevant as I'm now on my 4th phone, and this one needs to go back again, but direct to HTC which means I'll be without a phone for a couple of weeks FFS!!!!

High grade, eh.

Ha. I mean the body of the phone, it's more software problems that I've had, it's a 1 piece thingymajig made out of ceramic or something, unlike the Samsung which is made of out the same kind of plastic used in food packaging. You drop it and the back will come off, the battery will go flying somewhere and good luck finding your sim card.

That said I'd swap my One X for a S3 in a heartbeat.

Yeah I do like the s3 it's got a great screen, but the actual phone is huge.

The One X and the S3 are the same size I think? More or less the same any way. I think the screen is slightly better on the HTC but that means nothing if the thing isn't reliable. I had grief with my HTC Mozart before this one, think I'll swerve them next time.

The case on the S3 is polycarbonate, same as the One X and Lumia - not the cheap plastic that iFanboys would have you believe.

Also, as great as the aluminium/glass body of the iPhone is, the fact that it makes NFC impossible is likely to become a pretty big deal in the near future. Mobile Payments Technology is likely to gain more momentum, especially for small transactions - coffee, sandwiches and stuff - and unless they make pretty drastic changes to the build, Apple will never be able to incorporate this tech.

I think it's the removable back of the S3 which makes it feel like a slightly cheaper construction than the One X. I thought it was just made out of plastic like the S2.

The iPhone being made out of glass is just daft.

Polycarbonate is still plastic, it still feels massively cheap compared to the iPhone and One X in the hand.

NFC is also perfectly possible with an aluminium phone, not sure where you got the idea that it's not ! The reason Apple didn't bother with it is that the technology is practically non-existant in day to day life at the moment. It's like how Android OEMs launched phones with 4G before they had the battery tech and chips to really make it viable (the first 4G phone had a awful battery life, as did many after it).

Looks like Apple have finally done away with the glass back, that looks like a very well built phone. That test shows exactly the reason why I didn't want an S3 though, it's got a flimsy plastic back which just reminds me of an old Motorola or something, and I've dropped my One X countless times with no damage at all, and all I used is a £3 gel case I got off Amazon.
