Sammy Galaxy S5 revealed

http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/24/samsung-galaxy-s5-preview/

Bit sad they have implemented the fingerprint scanner. Really smacks of 'Apple are doing it, so it must be the next big thing' and then have put on a cheap slider style that has been available on laptops for literally centuries.

Pluses....stripped down Touchwiz, KitKat, a new 3-billion core Exynos processor (or a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon), brighter display, sd card, removable battery.

Another "I'm not really fussed" Samsung launch to go along with Note, S4, Note2. Could have slapped the bendy screen on there, or a 1440p display. Or 10" titanium cone subs.

Missed a trick there.

Phone contract renewal time. The last phone I had was a HTC One X which caused me annoyance after annoyance, so I don't know if I want one of those again. I was thinking maybe the iPhone 5s, I've just recently bought a MacBook so thought they'd probably link up quite nicely together? These fellas at the phone shops keep trying to offer me the 5c, and say it's barely any different, which I'm sure isn't true?

Also, won't the iPhone 6 be out soon? Should I just wait for that? I hate phone contracts.

There's a big difference between the 5C and 5S

You've got two options:

1/ Go Sim only and then decide if you want to go back on contract when the 6 comes out in September, or buy the 6 off contract from Apple
2/ Purchase the 5S now on contract, you'll get a healthy cash back rate on quidco for doing so. Save the cash back amount, flog the 5S when the 6 comes out and use your cash back and sale money to purchase a shiny new 6

Topcashback might offer a higher cash back rate, so check both sites.

Cheers for the advice mate. I've had a look and there is indeed a fair difference between the 5S and 5C. I'm going to give Orange or EE or whatever they call themselves these days and see what they can offer me as a long serving customer.

Maddison gives good advice. Best advice I can give is go the apple store and play with them. The 5c is basically the iPhone 5, the 5s is the premium model. I've still got the 5. I'll look at the 6, which as usual be out around 'soon'.
5s is a lovely phone, if you are dodging jam jars on smith down, I'd go for the 5c it's a bit more.. Resilient.

So, my contract with Orange comes to an end next month and I'll be getting a new phone through my insurance (separate from my phone contract) so I've been looking at sim only deals with a 1 month rolling contract. The Virgin deals seem to be the best by a good little bit, there's one at £15 a month with unlimited minutes, texts and 2GB of data, or for unlimited data it's £18. Does anyone use Virgin mobile? If so what is their signal/customer service like?

After a bit of research it seems they're terrible. FFS.

I'm on 3 and it's been dead sound. For my phone it's 15 a month for 300 mins, 3000 texts and unlimited data.

Thanks chaps.

The Tesco deals look alright, and they're all 4G now. It seems that most of the phone companies have poor customer service ratings though.
