After a bit of research it seems they're terrible. FFS.

A wopping 5 minutes of research, fickle much?? Lol

Thanks chaps.

The Tesco deals look alright, and they're all 4G now. It seems that most of the phone companies have poor customer service ratings though.

Tesco use O2's network, so be careful if you've not used O2 before. Their data coverage is the most poor of all the networks. I'm not sure if Tesco do any data throttling like Virgin do, so again I'd check the small print.

And remember to use Quidco or Topcashback for your new deal

They all seem to have poor ratings overall so it's picking the best from a bad bunch really. The mobile internet is shocking apparently, that was the main thing that put me off.

Whose network do GiffGaff use? I've been on Orange for a good few years now and there mobile internet is a bit crap.

I'm halfway through a 2 year contract with EE for an Iphone 5. However i lost my phone a couple of months ago and ended up having to block it. Problem i have is that i'm a bit skint at present so can't afford the £400 or so to buy a new phone, so does anyone reckon i'd have a chance of getting another off EE in return for paying extra on my monthly bill or doesn't it work that way?

GiffGaff use O2's network, they are actually O2 themselves. Check the trading address, it's the exact same HQ address

3 and EE have the best national data coverage of all the networks. If you've had an issue with orange then it's either a local issue, or you're likely to find Voda and O2 worse.

You could take the cash for the new phone, get a nexus5 or Moto G, and go sim only on a 12 month plan. They're pretty cheap

It isn't an iPhone, but in your situation I'd buy a Moto G. You can poco up a 8Gb version for £100 or a 16Gb one for £130. Costs £3 to get it unlocked. You'll miss out on 4G unfortunately, but it's an excellent phone and will feel just as fast as a £400 phone

I'm claiming on my phone insurance which is through my bank, £50 excess and I should get a HTC One to replace my old One X, so I'm fine for a phone. I'd ideally want a 1 month rolling deal ideally though. Yeah the area I live in is a bit crap for signal anyway but just out and about even in Liverpool I found it slow. Maybe that was more the phone, or maybe I should stump up the extra money for 4G.

Cheers mate. Lack of 4G won't be a problem as there's no 4G coverage at all here at the moment

I've been running an HTC One (M8 eh M8??) for about a month now, really happy with it. I was NEA about 4G, as even 3G down in Bristol was a bit iffy, but the 4G coverage seems a lot stronger, and it is sodding quick, I was stunned to be honest. Can you check coverage levels with your provider? Used to be able to with O2 and T-Mob.

I don't use cellphones all that much so I got an inexpensive $79 no contract Nokia 512 Windows Phone. The Phone is excellent, especially for the price. Plus windows IMO has the best smartphone OS.......if you don't mind not having access to the same apps that 98% of the smartphone public has access to.

I'm not sure if they'll give me that one or the model before, but anything is better than the £10 Samsung I've been using for the last three months. I'm not too fussed on 4G myself but if it's a couple of quid extra a month or something I'd probably take it. I'll try that though, cheers mate.

I've just bought the Moto G. Cracking phone for the price. Quad core, gorilla glass. No sd slot though so id get the 16gb version if you use it for music or games etc. much better than I was expecting it to be, plus it's guaranteed to get the new Android updates as Google own Motorola.

To give an idea of how poor signal and stuff is here we get 5MB download speed on our broadband, which is pretty pathetic. No wonder it took about 4 hours to download a 7GB game the other day.
