Slightly off topic but has anyone got any good last minute booking stories of holidays? Tempted to book a week or two off next Feb without booking anywhere and chancing my arm on the Friday with a last min deal.

I done that earlier this summer when me and me mate decided to go to Magaluf for the weekend to meet some of me mates who where over there. Paid £10 each for the weekend for the room and it was one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in.

Normally get a villa in Puerto Del Carmen, 2 adults and 2 kids with flights is about 1600 give or take. Lanzarote is quite reasonably priced too, so don't need a huge amount to take for spends.

Budva Montenegro. Brought the Mrs with son who's 16 and his mate. The lads are made up here, safe enough to let them out on their own at night as 18-30 hasn't got here yet so no big crowds of boozed up Brits to worry about.

Second this. Renting a car in Montenegro is a good idea, can travel it all easily. Visiting Kotor is an absolute must too.

Aside from that, can't really go wrong with Croatia really. Dubrovnik has plenty going on but a little expensive.

£5k is an INSANE price for a summer holiday in Europe. A family of four could ski for a week all-inclusive for less than that!
That's the prices now. Tunisia and Egypt are closed, Turkey is 50% full due to the problems. The Mediterranean is packed again like it was before the above places all got popular. It will be even more expensive next summer.

I tried booking a short break in Spain for this month and swerved it, no value out there alone. It's most cost effective flying to the Caribbean than short haul.

...depends on how far you want to go, RiU hotel in Puerto Vallarta is brilliant but if you want closer to home the Constantinou Bros hotels in Pathos, Cyprus have great food and booze for an all inclusive.

I was eyeing up the Seychelles for next year but now Sister in law is planning to get married in New York next summer so that's put paid to that plan.

The Seychelles are stunning mate.
Fly to the main island, but ideally transfer to Praslin and/or La Digue which are much quieter.
First time me and my missus went, we did a week on La Digue - transfer by helicopter - followed by a week on Praslin - transfer by yacht.
Gorgeous beaches, crystal clear sea perfect for snorkeling.
Tides can be very, very strong on some of the beaches, so care needs to taken - but all in all, it's paradise !!!

Love a bit of snorkeling, done the Maldives for the last two years. I'm happy in the water for a few hours then sit off in the sun drinking cocktails.
