Red Dead Redemption -V- GTA5

I massively enjoyed GTA V and completed it all the way through and will do again when it lands for PS4, however Red Dead is my favourite game of the last console generation. Things like the randomly generated encounters and hunting animals hadn't really been seen before in sandbox games. It was a beautiful game for such a desolate environment as well, obviously going into Mexico and returning to the plains are iconic scenes, but one of the best bits for me was the first time you cross the wilderness on horseback and thunder and lightning starts. Utterly beautiful (if you love a good storm like).

I also liked the way there was an air of the mystical to some of the side missions such as
encountering the devil/god type guy who gets you to do missions with a moral choice and eventually stands where your son goes to your grave

Also the ending to the game is up there with
Aries getting killed in FFVII as a "wow wtf" emotional moment

I think the only game since that has as the same kind of emotional pull has been The Last Of Us

Also the Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead is brilliant.

I'd kill to play Red Dead again. I think I did hear they're doing one for next gen.

Having said that can't wait for GTA on PS4 either.

There's rumours of a Red Dead 2. I've not played on my PS4 for a while now, too skint to buy anything decent and fed up with Fifa.

Blimey what a question.

Red Dead really is out of this world, despite the bit rubbish ending.

GTA 5 gripped me throughout too and i've never seen a character like Trevor in a computer game before.

But...

Red Dead wins just because of the bit just as you've gone over to Mexico and that Jose Gonzalez song plays. Gaming perfection right there.
Rubbish ending ? It's fantastic yet emotional.
