If I was Steve Cooper I wouldn’t find this all that reassuring.

TBF it doesn't say anything at all Steve Cooper wont already know or will have not been said. The media love to stir the pot and speculate on managers' futures - how many times have the talking heads on tv said "the club need to come out and back him" etc; well Forest have done that to end speculation by JoUrNaLiStS who just want a story. It's a results business and Cooper will know he's every bit at risk just like Vieira and Rodgers and Jones were, statement or not.

I'd say public statements are generally stays of execution in a PL relegation scrap this late into the season.

Yeah I think anyone sacking a a manager now has missed the window where the upside outweighs the downside, and also where you’re going to get a quality or experienced manager willing to step in. If I was a Leicester fan I’d be terrified going into massive games with a couple of coaches in charge.
In hindsight, we may have left it too late with Fronk, but fair play to Dyche, he’s given us a fighting chance.

You’re spot on though, anyone sacking their gaffer now is in a world of brown stuff, and I’m hoping that helps us get out of it.

Leicester and Notts Forest (chico spelling approved) are bang in trouble.

That Forest owner is absolutely off his trolley though, I could see him sacking Cooper and giving Benitez £10m for a 2 month contract.

We’re not winning all 3 of those away games, I’d snap your hand off to win one of them. Nothing from Brighton for me either.

The wins have to come against Fulham and Newcastle at home, and ideally we’d be safe by Bournemouth but give them a beating too.

Yeah that's the problem. I was thinking a few weeks ago that the home games are hard because they're against better teams, and now Newcastle have an upturn in form, Brighton are even better, but Fulham don't have mItrovic and are losing steam, so that might change.

If he doesn't pick up wins, Forest will roll the dice just like Saints and Palace and Leics did. It wont be a surprise to anyone. Burnley booted Dyche in the run-in last year and their caretaker manager gave them a bit of a boost and a chance at staying up, Forest could easily take the same gamble next week.

I quite like the fact they put out a statement if only to shut up the clickbait-hungry JoUrNaLiStS and insufferable tv panelists frothing at the mouth for another sacking to talk about (not that it really makes a difference mind, now the story will simply be 'Cooper gets dreaded vote of confidence' instead of 'could Cooper be sacked?').

Well that's the point. That statement doesn't shut up anyone up. We know how many managers get a statement like that then are binned. We've had plenty ourselves.

'keep us up and you get £10m' - plenty of managers would take that gig! The Lingard special: £200k a week for 2 goals and 2 assists. Bargain!

Do see it with Leicester alot will be looking for moves at the end of the season. With no long term manager in hopefully loose focus in the run in
