We got 10 points from the last 7 games last year but 7 points would have kept us up on 36 points .7 points this year would give us 34 points which probably would not be enough.
The big difference last year is the bottom 2 were cut adrift and we were in a straight fight with Burnley .
This year all teams can get out of the bottom 3 no one is completely cut adrift 34 points would probably keep us above Southampton and probably Forest if they lose today but would not keep out of the bottom 3.

One of the (many) problems is the lack of quality outside the first eleven (who aren't that great to begin with). With Doucoure and Oanana unavailable we had a very poor midfield/no quality to fill the gap. Away to Man U it probably made little difference, but the games where points were more 'easily' available (Fulham and Palace) then became much harder.
With regard to relegation; Emotionally, i want us to stay up. Logically/rationally, i can't see much improvent being made to the squad with the pressure of another relegation fight next season. I think that it may be good for us in the long term to go down and give some youngsters a chance/revamp the whole squad. Of couse we might plummet through the leagues and end up in Division 2. Is playing (and winning as many as we lose) in Division 2 better than scraping 6 or 7 wins year after year in the Premier League?

Basically at the minute we are relying on everyone else to not win, and hopefully lose to keep us up. while everyone at the bottom is relying on us to keep losing to give them hope - IE even though many say Saints are already down, while they are still so close they still have that tiny chance were as a win for us yesterday would have made it so much more awkward for them

I think 34 could well be enough to be honest.

I can’t see Forest bettering our goal difference and if so they would need to get 8 more points for 35.

Leicester have 25 points after 31, their goal difference is likely to be better than ours, but are they really going to get 9 points from their last 7 games?

Wouldn’t surprise me if 34 was safety and I’d be pretty shocked if we went down on 35 points. That would mean Forest getting 9 points from 8 and Leicester 10 points from 7. Would also mean Leeds getting 6 from 8 which is by no means guaranteed.

We are in a tough spot, but it’s all to play for. I reckon 35 points will be enough.

I can't be bothered with another relegation battle next season.

Maybe not going down to league 2! But leaving the premier league looks like the only way to remove Kenwright and the cancer Moshiri as well as a fair few players who should be booted out of the club with no reference.

I think we would bounce back quickly anyway. Especially with Dyche.

If West Ham can’t win today I can see them being in the mix until the last two games of the season too.

Their fixtures are pretty grim up until Leeds and Leicester. Plus they have Europe in the mix. Their games against the easier opponents are away and the home games are all tough. Similar to our fixtures.

Arsenal (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Liverpool (H)
Palace (A)
City (A)
United (H)
Brentford (A)
Leeds (H)
Leicester (A)

Well these are the runs, vital West Ham stay in this too as they have a big final say over the last 2 weekends. Liverpool play all 4 teams but do they care to fight for Europa? We could do with a few six pointers being draws, West Ham have a bad run in.
I cant see Leicester getting 3 more points then us, unless they beat us, its on that one game

Not sure how it's possible now, but we really need to be within 3 points of Bournemouth for that last game to leapfrog them.

We would have been better doing that last season given our subsequent lack of spending. I don't think there is any way Dyche builds us the team that will come up, and based on his treatment of Simms it certainly wont be to the benefit of young players.

Taking a step back from this whole situation, it occurs to me that we probably deserve to be relegated, we are a circus, run by clowns, our players are, for the most part, not good enough, we can't score goals and we have been in much the same situation for two seasons now. I'm not saying we will go down, I hope we don't go down and think we still have a chance of survival. The fact still remains though, we could not complain if we go down, we were on extremely lucky to get away with it last year and, if by some miracle we survive this season, I am sure we will find ourselves in the same situation next season.
