West Ham has to beat Alkmaar on aggregate to avoid PKs (no away goals rule), so he probably sets up to deliver a knockout punch and take the fans out early. That best explains why he rotated attacking players so heavily in the last fixture.

He just needs a point at home against Leeds to be 100% safe, so he probably sets up to play some negative footy in that one. He won't play a 'reduced' lineup so much as he'll make some tactical swaps and avoid taking big risks.
Bear in mind though that if we don't win our game they WILL be mathematically safe when they play, although I doubt a manager is going to make too many alterations to his line-up based on a result 24 hours previously.

At the end of the day there is integrity involved, it was understandable he rested players between the two legs and also he'll have known that the Brentford game had few serious repercussions. At home, possibly Rice's last game, with a lot riding on it for other clubs I think they'll put out a good side and do a professional job, and of course if they qualify there will be final places up for grabs for the players rotated in.

Their game against Leicester I worry about, but our job is to make that irrelevant.

Don't be surprised if Leicester win those final two games v Newcastle and West ham to get to 36 points, everyone has them gone but nobody gave us a prayer away at Brighton.
Newcastle are not invincible (as Villa showed in a 3-0 win) and the pressure is on them with RS breathing down their necks,I still expect some odd results yet.
You wouldn't be surprised if the second worst team in the league that are all but guaranteed to go down beat the third best team in the league who've got more than double their points over a season away from home when they're fighting for Champions League? Not only that you'd not be surprised if they then went and beat a team in a European final. It wouldnt' surprise you for a team to have 1/5 of it's total wins all season come in the last 2 games of the season?

Look mate all I'll say is if all that wouldn't surprise you then you must've been a nightmare to buy Christmas or Birthday presents for, you must've seen it all coming a mile away.

If he keeps us up he will have done a good job, but we have 32 points from 36 games. If that is a miraculous achievement, then obviously I don't understand football anymore.

We are still in the race because our rivals have been equally as bad as us. We've been ok since Dyche took over but nothing more than that. We are extremely fortunate that less points will be needed than last year, because if we needed to get 39 again, we'd already be gone.
We needed 36 points last year not 39 (or 35 with a better GD than -19). It's not difficult to check these things.

We only became safe in game 37 when we went to 39 points.

Technically you are right but if we had lost that game to Palace, all the permutations would have changed and Leeds and Burnley may have played differently and reacted differently. We'll never know.

The point stands. We are lucky that it is not a 38-40 point season for survival or we would already be gone.

I agree that he will put a good side out against Leeds. He'll have his tactical plan already, and will chase that point irrespective of what we do. His players will come to play for the reasons we mentioned - nail down safety, and try to get into that cup final starting XI.

I wouldn't expect him to keep the key cogs on the pitch in the second half if they're already safe, though. He'll pull Rice the way we pulled DCL, and for cause. Leeds can relegate them on goal differential if it gets ugly, so he can't afford a blowout. He'll just set up to strangle the game in the second half.

A win away to Wolves solves a lot of problems for us. It probably relegates Leicester, and then we just need to win the foot race with Leeds.

This.
As soon as we are safe, it needs to focus on the Board and their removal.
And then the shift in the way we are run needs to be brought under the microscope before end of June, so we can then re-focus on changing it on pitch for the last season at Goodison and going forward.
According to the Esk probability is club is taken over in the next two weeks.

So you don't think west ham will rest players?

They rested players v Brentford, about 8 players.

Doesn't matter when the final is, West ham are safe all bar mathematically so their only focus is europe now.
Maybe a few, but not as many as he changed vs Brentford.

No matter what we all think (wham are already safe), they need a point/win as it stands to be mathematically safe vs Leeds, so dour Davey will want to end the home season on a high.

It’s the Leicester game where he may make huge changes so the risk is there, but hopefully it’s all moot by then as we do what we need to and they will have already gone down.

Put down the hard spirits you’re delusional. Leeds who are atrocious are all of a sudden turning into Barca.
