We havent spent that much, certainly in the last 2 years, but I do get your point.

Our issue is that we are 1 of 6 ever presents in the PL, and enough revenue from this to be where the other 5 are, which is with no real chance of relegation. We have messed up on that huge opportunity over a 30 year period.
But our mismanagement hasn’t happened in the last 2yrs (when we haven’t spent), it’s happened in the last 7 (arguably longer, yea, but particularly the last 7) when we absolutely have.

Have you seen the line-up of chancers and spivs and half cut jesters that've managed us since? It's been a roulette of ever worsening detritus. Dyche aint no modern miracle but appears at least a significant improvement. Although not a difficult differentiation, at least something like a step in a positive direction.
The managers who failed and then went on to be employed by the number one ranked national team in the world, Holland, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Fulham… only in the business of football can you fail miserably and fall upwards.

johnny phenomenal
johnny par score
Carlo was decent, not a bad word there
Silva got desperately unlucky
johnny bisto
johnny the tory
that pillock that used to manage the rs

Awful. A lot more bad than good, and the signings made loaded the game very much against every subsequent incumbent. I saw a quote earlier, its a beaut...

it was on skysports, it's not easy to find but listed sandro, tosun and about four or five others and pointed out between them they'd scored 13 PL goals in total between em. (Maupay was in there also) Catastrophic.

Its longer than 7 really mate is my point. We havent spent enough to cover for that mismanagement.

I put quite a lot on it after Wolves did us at Christmas, while there was still odds against (11/8 at the time?). My reasoning (ha!) was that we'd be out of contention with a month to spare.

I get £800 if they drop on Sunday. Quite a comedown from the 4k it would have been last season. Quite a comedown, but them's the breaks. Now for 8 grand I'd score for Bournemouth myself frankly.

Which gets me thinking, is there much difference between the fallout after relegation this year vs last year?

I'd like to think they would be well-prepared for it, and better placed to terminate Alli, while selling off the 6-figure/week earners like Mina and Gomes to survive the utter financial black hole that awaits.
And you would honestly be happy collecting your winnings !!!!

Crumb of comfort..

We are third best for expected goals from set pieces since Dyche came in.

Bournemouth are 19th worst for expected goals conceded at set pieces since Oneill came in.
Another reason Gray has to be starting, if anything he will pick up Free kicks/Corners..
And he'll score!!!

Theres no reason why Everton couldnt be better run, to compete at the top end mate. It wouldnt necessarily need a Sheikh. And if Leeds stay up, it would be quite similar. The ground will definitely help us.

Without a Sheikh its probably difficult to replicate City, but with better recruitment either could be where Brighton are IMO.
Speaking for Leeds, we have definitely made a right old.mess of things and shouldn't be where we are.
What I meant was that it's impossible to compete for the league or CL places. The likes of City are just on a different level.
The right management cam bring European places though I do wonder how long Others like Brigjton, Brentford etc can keep it up, I suspect not for that long.

It will.

This is the Grand Old Lady's most important match to date and she has a huge part to play.
Agreed.

And the fact that it could be the Grand Old Lady's last ever top-flight match means we Blues must do what we can to generate an extraordinary atmosphere.

Everyone from the media to RS fans seem desperate for us to go down. Let's cheer our team on to victory and upset their plans.
