The longer we keep Lampard, the higher the percentage of relegation goes up. It is not all on him obviously, the board are terrible and the players making mistakes, but his in-game management has been poor and very hesitant and he looks like the job is too big for him.

A change in manager may not work, but gives a boost and a different approach because at the minute we stink of Villa, Geordies before they went down.

So you genuinely are stupid enough to think that good managers don't improve performance? So we may as well stick with Lampard???

Yoiks, your'e worse than I thought
While we may have some "fair" players, if the theory is correct, two words spring to mind, Carlo Ancelotti

Yes good managers can bring the best out of people, if the structure is there to enable this, the structure simply doesn't currently exist.

Not sure who out of all the class managers we could attract(ahem) and who the hell is gonna wanna come here with this toxicity, and who do you think is going polish this lot to a blinding shine like?

Absolutely agree! However, a better manager would get these players playing better, it’s what they do

How many times have we seen rock bottom teams change manager and climb the table? Even fat Sam did it with us

Death cultists is spot on - utterly chilling attitudes from those who have been ground down by the ineptitude of club senior management
I'm shocked at how prevalent the view is.

They talk about going forward renewed. But it'd kill us. It's a throwing your toys out the pram attitude at root.

Everyone's fed up, but look at the table and how many clubs are in this relegation fight: right up to Forest. We're in the thick of it, no question. But there's 7 other teams there we could all make a good case for to go down.

We are going down mate, this team has nothing about it, can’t score can’t stop conceding

Don't count out Palace - since the restart, they've beat Bournemouth 2-0, but been smashed at home by Fulham and Spurs, knocked out the cup by Southampton, then well beaten by a wobbling Chelsea - their next 9 games (until April) are United twice, Newcastle, Brighton, Brentford, Liverpool, Villa, City and Arsenal. They could very easily be going into April with (generously) 3 wins in 16

Talisman only six months on his deal and clearly desperate to leave too

When do you see us winning again? Honestly? Next few games are West Ham Arsenal and the RS that 0 points

It’s all very sad, isn’t it?

But all is not lost.

If we appoint a guy with some pedigree in terms of keeping problem teams in this division we will likely stay up. As things stand we are only one point off safety.
100% mate.

I get laughed at on these forums for thinking outside the box sometimes. But I think the ideal candidate at the moment is Ralph hassenhuttl. I think we need someone who can get surprise results and do it with a weak squad.

He had Southampton in around mid table for a number of years often pulling off shock wins at big clubs. He was always inconsistent but considering Southampton always sold their best players and had a low budget they did as well as could be reasonable expected and they are doing worse now that Jones has taken over.

I think he's the kind of manager who we need right now and can get something out of these players and keep them up.

Unfortunately the board aren't very clever so will probably hire a flavour of the month manager. But if you look at what Eddie howe is doing and at what moyes did originally at West ham. Sometimes a manager who has been sacked but actually been sacked unfairly after doing a good job can be a perfect manager to hire.

On the face of it hassenhuttl did an excellent job at Southampton with a poor squad and low budget and has the kind of mentality that can galvanise a team currently very low on morale.

Leeds at home right after that run, having sacked Lampard and replaced him with a competent coach; I know that answer is a bit glib but the general point you're getting at is exactly why the axe needs to fall

By the way, that Liverpool team is in absolute free fall and they don't seemingly have the money/will to deal with their issues in January - do not count us out at all for that fixture
