Going down without a decent striker coming in. Or Calvert Lewin actually staying fit and morphing back into 20/21 vintage.

Was looking through the prem line ups at half 2 thinking Southampton had a terrible 11 out....and they've just won 2-1 away to Leicester. Promoted teams started o.k aswell with Fulham winning.

Villa will sack Gerrard soon enough for those thinking they'll get dragged into it.

Last 10 minutes already had a feel of last season with how desperate it all was. Can't be having nine months of this.

Exactly how it feels already.

I can see Lampard being legged very soon unless he conjures a win from somewhere. Can’t go on like this.
I think it'll be October time, maybe world Cup - got to give him at least a month with the final squad at the end of the window. I just don't see how we make enough changes and sign enough quality in that time to make a difference.

Newcastle didn't win for their first 14 games last season. But we need better forwards .
And we need gana too

They had to sack their manager though and we really don't want to be going down that road again. Really hope Lampard gets us something over the next few weeks.

We should do but we have such little character across the park I can't see us having the mentality to get a win. Brentford and Leeds are huge for the season in general because it sets a marker down for the away home. Lose both of them and sets the tone again in the wrong way.
Don’t agree with that. Coady and Tarks are both leaders. This lot were under huge pressure end of last season and ultimately came through it. We are just not very good. We need to get the Gana deal done and a striker

Nothing can ever change with this administration running the club. Its over. We're dead with them. We just delayed the inevitable last season but its past that now. We're doomed to the championship and even league one while Moshiri and Kenwright and Baxendale and the rest of the stupid squad on the board continue to poison the club with their presence

We have a team of average and below average footballers and therein lies the problem.

Our one good one was sold before the season began.

If we get a striker we'll be fine. We've played miles worse over the last two seasons than we did today. Just a lack of a cutting edge is killing us at the minute. I admit I was surprised at those people who were slagging off che adams last week. As we're not getting anyone like prime van Basten, I thought adams would have been a good fit up front with the wide players we have.

One for thing for sure is we can’t do what did with Benitez where he lasted near two months longer than he should have. If we carry on the way we are, and it’s not solely on Lampards shoulders to be fair, then a decision will need making sharpish. Villa will definitely move quick

Mentality is a worry - celebrating that goal was their first instinct, not getting the ball back to the centre. Shows an acceptance of our level and that speaks volumes
It was just relief but yes Gray running over to corner of Gladys and celebrating wildly and wasting a minute instead of quickly geeing up the crowd and then running back to centre circle was frustrating.
