Good result, that game vs Leeds is massive
They are all massive !!

We have to take points off some of the big boys, the games that people will already look at as a write off.
cos we won't be taking enough points off the teams we would expect to, cos we never do..

Just look at last season, it was games like Utd, Chelsea, Leicester ( and obviously palace ) that saved us.
whereas Norwich, Watford and Burnley all done us.

Disagree.

The results again this weekend mean we haven't "got to" get a result tomorrow.

We can be beaten and still get out of the relegation zone by next Saturday.

Three points from the combined games against Arsenal and Liverpool is 2 more than I dared to hope for before Dyche arrived. Leeds at Goodison will tell us a lot....and if we get something from Liverpool, it'll tell us a hell of a lot.
You cannot look at our hopes of safety/or just football in general, by relying on future possibilities.
We have to look at tomorrow as just as important game as next week.
I never expected anything from Arsenal/Liverpool but I still thought if there is going to be a chance of safety we need 4pts from those games.

Last week after we beat Arsenal we were level on points with Leeds but had played 2 games more. Now they are 1 point ahead having now played a game more. It has been a good week in them terms. But I just can't trust this group of players. Everybody has gotten giddy since beating Arsenal, and I understand as it's been so long since we had seen such a performance and result. But its the same squad badly lacking in forward areas and don't suddenly see us scoring at a higher rate than what we had been. And the rate we had been scoring wasn't enough to put a winning run together.
Think we all see what this squad has done this season was just relief to finally get a result. Just hope under dyche set pieces and the cm getting in the box can get us more goals

Agree, Dyche is no mug, he’ll compensate for our weaknesses. It may not be pretty though.

Goals from midfield, set pieces and corners in particular, will be key.

I believe he will change how we play to suit the players available and get us over the line.

Tonight is a bit of a free hit as far as I'm concerned - thought a point from Arsenal/Liverpool was as much as I could hope for, so the result last week gives us a bit of breathing room tonight. However, Leeds at the weekend is absolutely must win. The psychological boost we'd get from climbing out of the bottom 3 would be huge, so that has to be the focus. Don't risk DCL tonight even if he's passed fit - by all means go there tonight, get bodies behind the ball and take a point if we can get it, but focus has to shift quickly to Saturday and we need to manage anyone who has fitness issues with Saturday in mind rather than gamble on them tonight.

I forgot Leeds won two of first three this season. Which means they have won two of their last nineteen league games.

No excuse, we have to beat them.
At this point, there is no margin of error, so excuses don't come into it. We have to beat Leeds. We will then need to maximise points opportunities against Villa and Brentford, and cannot, under any circumstances, lose to Forest.

All of this, of course, is due to the negligent inertia that followed Lampard's disastrous week against Bournemouth. We said it at the time that he had to go then. But the club and the "blue-sky thinkers" amongst the fanbase demurred and now we are left with no room for error whatsoever.

I fear we've left it too late because we are basically saying to the new manager than he gets zero time and leeway to bed his ideas in. It's a tough gig but his attitude is good. People say tonight is a free hit, but it's nothing of the sort. It's an opportunity to get points. We can't pass up those now given we went into the season without a striker and passed up the opportunity to beat Wolves, Brighton, Southampton, and West Ham by prolonging Lampard's failed tenure needlessly.

There's no guarantees, no.

I believe though, that we have a better all round team than a minimum of 5/6 teams in this league.

We lack only in the forward department, but I dont see those in and around us cutting it in that respect either. Forest, Wolves, West Ham, Bournemouth and Southampton all have low scoring attacks (and Leeds cant profit from their relatively better attack).

IMO 6 wins gets us near enough safe - 7 wins almost certainly does that. We have it in us to get them in 17 games under Dyche.
I agree @davek, but it was only a few games ago many on here were saying we were the worst team in the league. Admittedly, the manager has changed because it looked like we wouldn’t win again under Lampard, and all it took was someone with competence to get our players moving again.

However, these same players can’t be trusted to revert to type, and it’s still early days under Dyche to say there’s not another unacceptable performance lurking around the corner. But I’m optimistic we’ll get enough points. Even if we lose tonight, we need 6 wins and a few draws from 16 games to reach safety. Not losing tonight is a bonus, but Leeds and Villa are the two key games. Win both of those and it’s only 4 wins needed from the last 14. We can deffo do that, but at the moment it’s all ifs, buts and maybes.

That's it for me.

And some people think they're suddenly going to win like 5 or 6 of the next 16. I dont see it.

0 wins in 9 and 2 wins in 19 is worse than our record under Benitez last season. They are in big trouble.

Will sound odd, but we really cant lose that game.

They could justifiably be saying the same of us

His record looks distinctly average , like you say big risk .

Ajax fan injecting hope into Leeds United veins there.

With the right attitude we're capable of getting points out of every game. We'll lose some along the way, but if we avoid 7 or 8 defeats we'll amass the required total.
