You cannot look at our hopes of safety/or just football in general, by relying on future possibilities.
We have to look at tomorrow as just as important game as next week.
I never expected anything from Arsenal/Liverpool but I still thought if there is going to be a chance of safety we need 4pts from those games.

We dont "need" a point from tonight to have a chance of safety.

I agree @davek, but it was only a few games ago many on here were saying we were the worst team in the league. Admittedly, the manager has changed because it looked like we wouldn’t win again under Lampard, and all it took was someone with competence to get our players moving again.

However, these same players can’t be trusted to revert to type, and it’s still early days under Dyche to say there’s not another unacceptable performance lurking around the corner. But I’m optimistic we’ll get enough points. Even if we lose tonight, we need 6 wins and a few draws from 16 games to reach safety. Not losing tonight is a bonus, but Leeds and Villa are the two key games. Win both of those and it’s only 4 wins needed from the last 14. We can deffo do that, but at the moment it’s all ifs, buts and maybes.
We only have 7 games left against teams in the bottom half of the table(same as Leeds ) even if we win all of them which is extremely unlikely it only gives us 39 points which may not be enough
My point is that we have to pick up points from the other 10 games. There are no free hits including tonight, no more time for expected losses every game has potential for 1/3 points and we have to be prepared to fight for every single point.

Good job we beat top of the table Arsenal in the last game then.

How Fulham is not is this relegation battle? They have a very poor squad.

I think Bournmouth and Southampton will dow. I hope that Leeds can join them:D

When we get this situation under control with a simple task of getting a point per game to ensure survival we can begin to breathe again.

We can pretty much do that by taking 5 points from the next three games.

I do believe we'll get to that point per game total required in the near future though - whether that takes us three or 5 games to do it.

No, you're right. We don't mathematically need a point tonight if we are banking on future results. But we know that doesn't work in reality.
Some kind of result tonight will do so much more to the team then just put the point/points on the board.
The atmosphere around the club and dressing room will be massive and a big boost to the morale of the squad.

Do I really believe its a reality, No! But then I thought the same against Arsenal.

People need to stay calm, there’s plenty of games left, there’s going to be games we don’t pick up points, there’s going to be games we get points in fixtures we don’t expect and then games we lose points against opposition we hoped to beat. There’s still a lot of points to play for and the Arsenal game just showed that we can’t really predict any fixture.

There’s just no point having a meltdown after every game we don’t win and then other people saying ‘this team won’t go down’ after every time we win.

The entire bottom half of the table up to and including Palace are going to be in a battle for the rest of the season. None are good enough to move fully away, all of them are bad enough to lose a run of games and get right back into trouble.

We just need to keep picking up points, avoiding defeats, and let other teams bury themselves with long winless runs (as Southampton Bournemouth and Leeds have started doing)

Yes try to stay calm everyone, maybe try Box breathing, Tai Chi or perhaps a mild sedative in the build up to the game.
