Bristol City are currently 14th. Who other than Alex Scott gets in our squad let alone our team? This is what I mean by people underestimating the gulf between PL and Championship.
I think you are overestimating it personally.

Who from Brentford gets in our squad on paper? 1 or 2? They are miles better than us though.

It would be a completely alien experience for us. Of course we COULD come back up, but we would need to adapt to the scenario and I am not sure we would be able to adequately.

Crystal Palace next three games

unless they draw all 3 then failure to win one, surely sees them right in the mess.
Not won in 14 games either.

Neither Brentford nor Fulham have what the media like to describe as star players. But they both have lots of very good players who are playing well within systems that suit them best and for two excellent managers. I regret now belonging to the group of Everton fans maybe the majority who wanted Silva sacked. Too late now I know.

Hello, supporter for 65 years here, I don't say much on this forum. I do feel qualified to have my say. I did post back in November that Lampard should be sacked. My view now is that we should concentrate on our points per games. Under Dyche we have plus one points over the six games played, which is progress. If we can continue at this same rate until the end of the season we will end up with exactly 36 points (2 more sets of six games to go = 2x(6+1) = 22 so far plus a further 14 = 36). This may just be enough. One could argue that we have had the new manager bounce, but I think we actually are making progress under Dyche. Please all Everton fans we need your passionate support, even if we go a goal down in matches. Do not lose hope.
Great post!

Our players have a reputation based seemingly solely on what we paid for them. Someone like Iwobi wouldn’t get anywhere near Brentford’s team and he cost probably more than their combined first XI. Yet he starts for us and is seen as a key player.
And likewise Brentford have squad players who would be first teamers for us

I think teams like palace and forest certainly gives us hope that we aren’t gone yet. They have a get out jail free card to a certain extent with players like zaha, olise,Johnson, Gibbs white who can produce things out of nothing. I feel we don’t have that and need the entire team to be on it to win points.

I’d feel comfortable ish that we could claw one of leeds, palace, forest back over the course of 12 games - I’d say the worry is soton or Bournemouth overtaking us. Just so tight.

I think Saturday will be a huge day for us. We win and could have a few points breathing space with tricky fixtures ahead, lose and it’s going to be hard to get out of it imo. There are certain games left I feel that we have to win and this is one of them - even with their great form.

Again it comes down to goals - performances generally under dyche have shown an upward curve, but if DCL isn’t fit then I worry it’ll be another villa situation.

It's the simple things that really stand out for me when I watch other, cheaper teams.

Last night, Pereira struck the ball cleanly twice!

Imagine how much we'd have to pay for that.

I'd flip a coin at best with our forward line. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has 6 goals since start of last season and is never fit, absolutely cannot accomodate a 3rd year of that in a very competative league. If we could get £15-20m+ sell and reinvest. Maupay scored 37 in 85 in the Championship which is encouraging, yet could easily still look like a fish up a tree and struggle to get 5. Gray and McNeil should do fine, Simms has shown he can bag a few at a lower level, Dobbin maybe maybe not.

For me, the forward line has been neglected for quality attackers too many times and should be a priority. No idea who we'd want or who we'd get but I'd like to see 3 maybe 4 first team level strikers capable of contributing 15+ goals each if we're going to bounce back first time round. Midfield, who knows. Dacs may get his 1 year option activated, Gana we could be stuck with, Iwobi I think would stay, Garner should be ok.
We couldn't afford to pay Gueye or extend Doucs contract in the championship. It might be difficult to shift some of the others. I can't see teams clammering for Maupay or DCL for a number of reasons.

Anything is possible, I just don’t see how you can be so confident we’ll definitely stay up. I still think if we make it then it’ll have been against the odds.
I've made my position clear: I think it's 50-50. And it will be even if we beat Brentford.

My 'confidence', such as it is, has been to point out quite rightly that Everton are realistically one of 6/7 who'll take up the bottom three places at the season's end. That's the source of my opposition to those on here who just view Everton's run-in in isolation and tend to believe every other club in the division is better than us. There's not.

But we need to pick up 4 wins and a couple of draws, or some other combination of wins and draws, to get us about 14/15 points. Because IMO 36 or 37 points will be enough.

They've won the same amount of games as us...the draws they've piled up have saved them.

It's a pity, because apart from bossing Brentford away from home a few weeks back they look incapable of getting a win.

Let's hope there will be room for it somewhere at BMD. Might have to build an extension to fit them all in. ;)
All joking aside, they didn’t bother putting in a ticket office at BMD, so there’s a good chance they’ve not got anywhere to stick any possible, however unlikely, trophies we may win!

We don’t need to get absolutely everyone out the door if we go down, it’s not just a case of selling who we can. It doesn’t make sense to extend Doucoure on his wages but there might not be many takers for Gana. There’s very little point in getting rid of Maupay or DCL for all we’d get for them, just hope they can bag goals in the championship which would both help us bounce back and pump their value.

There’s a big revenue drop but it’s not cataclysmic, we’ve pocketed 40 for Gordon and 25 for Kean already, likely would get 70 or so selling Pickford and Onana, and there’s a 45 parachute payment. That’s a lot coming in. With those two sales and Mina and Doucoure coming off it’s also about 20m in wages saved.

Beyond those four likely departures we may want to get other high earners off the books but it can be a bit more selective.
