Relegation Fight 2014/2015

True. 15th place will always get you relegated.

Am I missing the point here?

Because if teams below us jumped to 7th or 8th in the form table, that'd mean three wins out of nowhere wouldn't it?

Turn the table - again, what "if" QPR and Sunderland had gone on a three wins in three run and we hadn't?

The fact is that prior to the Newcastle game particularly it was conceivable that if the run of form continued we could go down. It didn't, and thank everything for that.

Read what I said earlier - football is a game of "ifs", I'm delighted we won but when your form is so poor that you've barely won a game in four months, then you are conceivably in an unstoppable downward spiral. Fortunately, despite being pretty poor, we have ground out three wins and we're now safe, but those who can hand on heart say before the Newcastle game they envisaged maximum points from the next three games given how we were playing are being disingenuous IMO.

And furthermore, I'm not really sure why people are so annoyed about it being labelled as a relegation threatened season. It's not one now, and that's all that matters, so why do people care if people thought it was a relegation fight or not?
I just get bothered by hypotheticals tbh mate. Like you said though it's a game of if's and if Ross didnt hit the post twice we could possibly still be in europe but he did so it's a moot point.

This has been happening all season.

Poster A (you) says :OMG we're gettign relegated, panic, help, help, help.

Poster B (me) says: Relax we'll do enough to get 17th at the least.

Poster A then responds: Oh 17th is wonderful innit. No problems at all with that.

Nobody is saying this seaosn has been great what we were saying is the hyperbole and hysteria about us going down was stupid and unhelpful as it was never a realistic threat.

Changing the topic of converstaion so it's about whether or not we're satisified with this season when none is, is shithouse tactics cos you can't admit that you messed up.

I messed up by criticising a manager who had us not winning 2 games for 3 months and daring to question whether he is the right man for the job.

But jumping all over one person on the basis that we have won consecutive games for the first time since last season? either you are fine with the season and can accept that some fans would want change in that circumstances or youare ffine because turns out we aren't going down after all with a few games to spare.

Why? It's discussing probability.

For example, I predicted after the Newcastle result that we could win pretty much every game from here on in as we'd broken the run of consecutive loss/draws that had lingered like an unbreakable jinx on us for months. Similarly, before Newcastle, it was logical to look at how we were playing and not see where a result was coming from - people seemingly don't remember that before the Kiev turnaround where the crowd forced the issue, we didn't look like playing a forward pass ever. The game after, we do things right and we battle to a win. But what if that hadn't happened and we had kept the tippy tappy nonsense that had resulted in the form we had up until that point?

LOL, I was never worried about QPR, Burnley or Leicester finishing on more points than us.

I have no problem with people turning on martinez.

I have problems with people talking crap about how we're defo going to get relegated without a change when we clearly weren't.

The two things are not the same so stop your straw man crap.

Nothing worse than people jumping up and down going "I was right, you was wrong, ner ner nerner nerrrrrrr!"

We've done well to get to 37 points after 31 games played - the 3 wins in a row have basically saved us - but it's still the lowest amount of points we've had at this stage of a season for 11 years.

After 31 games played:

14/15 11th - 37 pts
13/14 5th - 60 pts
12/13 6th - 52 pts
11/12 7th - 43 pts
10/11 7th - 41 pts
09/10 8th - 48 pts
08/09 6th - 51 pts
07/08 5th - 57 pts
06/07 7th - 47 pts
05/06 10th - 43 pts
04/05 4th - 51 pts
03/04 14th - 34 pts
---------------------
97/98 17th - 33 pts
---------------------
93/94 14th - 36 pts
