If we were never in a relegation fight as claimed here, someone forgot to tell the manager:

Roberto Martinez: Everton in survival fight, says manager
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has accepted that the club are in a relegation battle.

Martinez's side are six points above the relegation zone after winning one of their last 12 Premier League games.

Everton have 28 points from 28 games, their lowest total at this stage of a season in the Premier League era.

Pfft.

We definitely were in a relegation fight.

Consider if we'd have got what we deserved on the run of play against Southampton and QPR - we'd be three points above the drop in disastrous form with seven games to go, with a side below us on a run of two wins in three.

Football is a game of "ifs" though - luckily, we've scraped three wins out of the bag, and after the QPR result we were all but safe, but we were right in the mix prior to three wins.

Regardless, it's been a horrid season, utterly inexcusable.

But we didn't. So we weren't.

Martinez is clearly a plotter as well.

Wrong. We need that Ghost lad back. You might not agree with what he was saying, but he was making some BIG calls back then.
He guaranteed genuine corn as he was:
  1. Very xenophobic
  2. Proud English patriot (even when we found out he'd been brought up in Wales)
  3. Massive Apple fanboy
  4. Huge fumer over adverse Everton results
  5. Aspiring middle class and appreciater of wine and classical music

I'm glad to hear this. I like how he was all unmeasured emotion. Some people wear their heart on their sleeve, but he pretty much walked around in an aorta suit, firing feelings out of a cannon.

Would just like to add this...

A relegation fight is when you're no more than 3/4 points off the bottom 3 at the end of April. Not 6 points off the bottom 3 in February.

As you were...
