There is nothing beneficial whatsoever in going down. We might never recover and could even end up in administration. Badly ran unprofitable businesses usually do.

We’re banking on coming straight back up at the first time of asking to avoid complete financial meltdown according to that Athletic video the other week. Any points deductions put a swift end to that hope, but if we manage to avoid such a punishment then if we don’t clear out 80% of this current squad I couldn’t see us even challenging for the playoffs.

We need a thorough turnover of the squad this summer. That includes selling ANY player that we receive a reasonable offer for. That includes Richarlison, Pickford and DCL if anyone is still interested for some reason. The only one I’d be bothered about hanging onto is Gordon. He’s the only one I can imagine would be hurt by the situation and desperately want to help the club.

We won't go down we have the better squad than the others. Watford and Norwich are already gone.

I know these lads , they love the club and it was said out of frustration with the way things are and the way some fans defend them. I can relate to that but I’m with you in the sense that going down would be disastrous.
Agreed mate, it could take years and years to get back up to the premiership

Work colleagues who are blues saying going down might be for the best so it finally rids us of the board and their cronies.

I don’t agree, as much as I don’t like the custodians it will be a disaster and it could be a very long time before we play in the Prem again.

What a friggin mess
We definitely need an overhaul of the squad and board that put us in this position but we are immeasurably better off doing that in the Prem
Going down is never good, especially for a squad with such high wages and no relegation clauses
Very unlikely to bounce back up because of it

You're right, there isn't. What people are doing however is considering a silver lining be that to try and lessen the blow or due to how they perceive our situation.

If the mentality is that relegation will result in our demise, well it may just do that. It's the same with whether we go down or not - if we give up, the players will.

Relegation will put huge financial pressures on us before talking about the general indignity of it all, but if it causes us to change well that may be a slight positive.

Even if we stay up this season, I'd expect most objective pundits would consider us likely to be teetering again next year as this isn't a one off - it's not a fluke.

The club needs reform, and sometimes only a rude awaking can really induce the change needed. Hopefully this'll be enough, but relegation likely will.

I can't agree with that theory. Whilst I wouldn't advocate wanting us to get relegated, we really need to stop being frozen by the fear of it, because whilst we continue to make snap decisions based on this fear (sacking managers continuously for example) then we just keep on piling up problems for the future and nothing ever truly improves.

There is a lot to be said for the club receiving the 'short sharp shock' it might need to wake it back up and bring us all to our senses and make us all more willing to rebuild ourselves in a better image. Yes relegation will bring massive problems of its own, but refusing to believe there are only downs and no upside means we carry on with the head in the sand mentality that makes it one day inevitable anyway.....that day may already be on its way.

Nothing is guaranteed, win lose or draw we never know. I know for sure 100% I would rather be in our position than in Burnley's, It's still in our hands for now, Whatever happens on Sunday it will still be in our hands. COYB!!

Before all the dim wits jump to conclusions, I do not want us to be relegated. It will be a horrible, shameful blow and I worry what will occur after it.

Even more so with the RS's current standings! Nevertheless, there is more to football than the PL, and the club we love will vanish if we're to be relegated.

Look at the likes of Villa, Leeds, West Ham, Leicester, Newcastle, Southampton, Wolves and so many other clubs. There'll be difficulties, but that's life.

We've spent every year since our conception in the top league of English football are we really going to give up now?
Here's another.
