All is not lost. Far from it.

If we win on Sunday against a very beatable Chelsea team that lost to Brentford the other week, we could potentially be out of the bottom 3 depending on the result of Burnley’s match against Watford.

We will also be just 2 points behind Leeds having played the same number of matches as them. And they have a much tougher run-in than we do.

I keep hearing this ‘mathematically’ possible but the reality is we aren’t winning 5 of our next 6
Maybe so but that's your opinion until its fact mate. I've accepted the fact we might be in the Championship next season and made peace with it about 5 games ago but I still have a bit of hope that the manager can keep us up and that these players will pull their fingers out. There's literally zero point in supporting the team if I just give up and say that's us relegated. What's the point then? I'd just follow the cricket instead and do myself a favour.

We will. But things can never be the same again.

We will be a humiliated club and we all will carry that humiliation, each and every one of us.

This is epochal. Almost 70 years since we were in the lower tier.

It'll break this club in so many ways it's almost impossible to list them.
Indeed. If we do go down (and I still believe we can stay up).our identity as a club will radically change in the eyes of the footballing world.
I was born in August 1952 when we were in the old 2nd division until we came back the following year.
I am sincerely hoping that on my 70th birthday we are still a prem team
Sigh..

Imagine going into the final day in the relegation zone needing a win against Arsenal to stay up and pulling it off. Iwobi with a worldly in the final minutes to win it and the players and away fans carry him and Super Frank off the field.... just imagine...

I am imagining all types of scenarios in which we survive….with yours truly scoring the worldie that keeps us up :celebrate:

Agreed.

Even in terms of our fan base size we would be greatly diminished. Lower league teams receive almost no media coverage. I live just 5 miles from Prenton Park but I couldn’t tell you the first thing about them. I don’t even know what division they’re in. If we stay down for a long time (which is inevitable given how weak our squad is and how poor our financial state is) it’s likely that we will get to the point where some Scouse kids will simply have never even heard of Everton Football Club.

When Sheffield Wednesday were in the Premier League 20 years ago they regularly got crowds of 40,000. Nowadays their average attendance is around 20,000!

BOLLIX

Even where the team is now and the games we have left it would be criminal to finish in the bottom 3, there should be no reason why we cannot take enough points from the games left to stay up.

If we do not then we probably deserve it.

Why not we won 6 games in a row before. Burnley won 4 games all season and now gone WLDWW

Chelsea have a lot of internal problems, both on and off the field. Also Franks a Chelsea hero

Leicester play Roma in Rome 3 days before us in a 2nd leg semi final

Norwich.. surely we got to beat them

Palace, we owe them for the 2 wallopings we had off them and their season over

Brentford(maybe before palace) season over and we beat them 4-0 earlier this season

Arsenal…god help us all

Its Watford rather than Norwich...

Its outside our hands now mate. Its almost irrelevant what we do now because the likes of Leeds and Burnley need to drop points for our games to even be relevant.:(
That’s just not the case. We win all our matches and we stay up, regardless of whether Burnley win all their matches or not.

We have a game in hand on them. And a game in hand on Leeds.

Yeah I realised that after I'd posted it. I'd had a few to drink. I still don't think we'll do it though mate. This team has broken me. I have absolutely no confidence or faith in them at all.

Maddest thing is we spent most of that in two summers we haven't exactly spent lavishly in recent seasons. It's spotlighted because how we wasted it and how we have gone backwards. When teams spend and go forwards its never mentioned.
Spot on. We haven’t been one of the bigger spenders over the course of the last 3 or 4 years.
