I think it's a unfair to compare them to Wayne Rooney, who imo could be top10 player ever. His unselfishness allowed others to stand out. I remember watching that Utd team with both him and Ronaldo and thinking if I had to choose I'd pick Rooney first. What a player. I won't in the slightest hold it against DCL or Richy that they aren't at his levelThat’s why I can’t buy some of the shouts for DCL Richarlison Digne as class players.
Take a look at that Wayne Rooney and then tell me that DCL or Richarlison are anywhere near that level of footballer.
Yeah it’s weird I’m kinda enjoying the fact we have something to play for. I am worried about us going downOK….I am open to a pile on here but what the heck.
Say what you like, we haven’t had this much intensity and interest in the dying weeks of a season in years.
Yes, we could all do without the stress and if we survive this, which I fully expect to BTW, never again will I complain about our seasion ending with a 4th Round Cup Exit at the end of January with EFC anchored around 8th or 9th in the table.
Put simply, tomorrow is as exciting a day as you could imagine.
We will all be avidly following a match between Watford and Burnley.
Yes, Watford and flaming Burnley.
Then Leeds United take centre stage in Everton’s universe.
If, as one would expect, Leeds lose versus City and Burnley fail to win at Watford the mood on here tomorrow night will be euphoric ahead of Sunday’s clash with Chelsea.
What a weekend in prospect

Ironically Chelsea saved us both times… there are playing Watford on the last dayAye, those famous 'last day's in 94 and 98. In 94 five or six teams could go down, virtually all playing "holiday" teams....not one them won bar us! And in 98 neither us nor Bolton could manage it, so much for our opponents being on 'the beach'
Gordon not that far away in my opinion, u set Frank I can see him become world class. He’s got the pace and talent just needs more minutes and learn the gameTbf, there’s only been a handful of footballers since Rooney came on the scene who have been that level of footballer and certainly none who played for us.
We won’t see that level of talent at the club again for a very long time imo.
DCL and Rich dont play as a pair that the problem. Both should be doing more. Richy should have about 20 goals this season but misses so many sittersAgree, but I think we’ve had attacking players who have been a level above them:
Yakubu, Saha, Mirallas, Lukaku even Barkley
They all had a certain level of technique and first touch, link up play etc.
In DCL and Richarlison I just see two players who if they haven’t scored with their first touch are highly unlikely to do much with their second.
Interesting question. I'd go for prime Jags/Distin myself though as we wouldn't create anything for Yak.

Nah, not for me. Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s got the attributes to grow into a very good footballer, but from the age of 16 Wayne Rooney was often the best footballer on the pitch. A true generational talent.Gordon not that far away in my opinion, u set Frank I can see him become world class. He’s got the pace and talent just needs more minutes and learn the game
Hard to compare as Rooney was in Utd probably best ever side with incredible talented players, where Gordon playing with a bunch of hobos who can’t pass tackle or runNah, not for me. Or maybe it’s nostalgia getting the better of me, but I’ve never felt the excitement I felt as a 12 year old watching Rooney playing for us.
Nah you’re not wrong, Rooney is the best 16-18 year old I’ve ever seen play for anyone and I’m not sure anyone can even argue against that. Then at full peak versus everyone else’s peak he’s probably top 10 attackers of his generation only missing out to the likes of Ronaldo and Messi.Nah, not for me. It will be if you are still here. Sod off.Burnley are going to win their next 2 games as we lose to Chelsea and it will be very very sad in here![]()
Wouldn’t say Rooney had pace, brilliant finisher though, not as good as RonaldoNah you’re not wrong, Rooney is the best 16-18 year old I’ve ever seen play for anyone and I’m not sure anyone can even argue against that. Gordon has suddenly got this burst of pace which makes him exciting like when he blew away Keita and AA at the weekend but Rooney had that plus strength plus end product - Gordon’s end product has been sadly lacking at the top level.
Think he’ll come good though but not Rooney level good.
DCL is decent in a very specific role which Carlo used him in, but not class.
Richie and Digne are both a level above DCL, but Richie is certainly vary raw and while there is clear quality, its not consistent enough.
James was class. That class brought out more from Richie. But, James was also surrounded by a load of bang average players, which weren't anywhere near his level or vision.
Rooney was pure class. Didn't need others to be at his level because he had the physicality to manage it by himself.
I'll go with Tommy G. He'd terrify our team of pansies in to action. Somebody in the middle of the park who would get a reaction from this bunch of cowards. An actual leader and solid player at the back would make a world of difference.
But I'd struggle to see past Cahill. Just for the drive he had and instilled in his team mates. He would let anyone get away with not putting in the effort
