Yeah, this stuff makes me laugh. Especially the idea that someone like Gerrard wouldn't mind finishing 17th, as long as we go down. I'm pretty sure finishing that low won't instil much confidence in him for Villa fans.
Given the backing he’s had, Gerrard’s job could be on the line if Villa slide down the table. They got rid of Dean Smith quickly enough when things started going wrong.

We need wins quickly. Getting 3 points against Chelsea would be huge and could potentially spark something. A draw wouldn’t be the end of the world but if we get well beaten it’s hard to see where we go from there. There’s just no evidence to suggest this group of players can go on a run of results but I’m praying they do. If we can pick up points over the next two matches there are still 3 potentially winnable games in Palace, Watford and Brentford. Can’t see us getting a result at Arsenal.
Yes we could win those games, but I think given Burnley would be 5 points ahead then I can’t see us overtaking them again. They’ve been in the relegation zone for so long, I think they’ll do whatever needs to be done to win their games and stay in front.

You think Leeds will not beat Brentford who will be on their hollybobs

Leeds will go absolutely gung ho on Brentford and treat it like a cup final the same way Bournemouth did to us on the final game of the season when they beat us 3-1 at goodison park even though we had Ancelotti

We need to secure our prem status before the arsenal game
This.
Our record there is not good - But what a 'kin game to win...

The 'Everton That' historical imperative/ narrative would mean we still go down though

Burnley's recent lets get Everton relegated form will fall off the cliff again soon and they will go back to being the absolute crap they have been all season. They might even bollox it up at Watford tomorrow. I doubt it will last for much longer anyway.

Most important thing is us though. Win a few games and we will be safe. It is that simple really.

I'm not sure about that Charles. This season has been a disgrace, and big changes are needed even if we do hopefully stay up.

Lampard is exempt from blame obviously. Safety might have been secured if he was brought in earlier.
I would agree with you on that. My original thought was that this group don't seem overtly concerned about our current plight, and if we stayed up that view would be proved correct. I did not intend to express an endorsement of the players, infrastructure or Board as they have been shoite all season and indeed well before that! I also agree that Lampards not left holding the baby for our demise.

I fancy a Watford win and Everton draw this weekend.

Would put us firmly favourites to stay up if that happens.

If Watford beat Burnley, for me, they are still a risk. If they then went on to beat Palace, they would have real hope going into our game which we don't need. We need them all but out in our game because I don't fancy our chances if they are right up for it.

But we do desperately need them to get something vs Burnley.

Still concerned about Watford. Beating Burnley bring them back in, especially with us having to go away to them. Would like to think Leicester and Chelsea will see them off, but there's still a risk.

OK….I am open to a pile on here but what the heck.

Say what you like, we haven’t had this much intensity and interest in the dying weeks of a season in years.

Yes, we could all do without the stress and if we survive this, which I fully expect to BTW, never again will I complain about our seasion ending with a 4th Round Cup Exit at the end of January with EFC anchored around 8th or 9th in the table.

Put simply, tomorrow is as exciting a day as you could imagine.

We will all be avidly following a match between Watford and Burnley.

Yes, Watford and flaming Burnley.

Then Leeds United take centre stage in Everton’s universe.

If, as one would expect, Leeds lose versus City and Burnley fail to win at Watford the mood on here tomorrow night will be euphoric ahead of Sunday’s clash with Chelsea.

What a weekend in prospect :)

We had no fans vs Bournemouth so hardly the same...and if all these opponents are on their holidays then all relegated threatened teams would win their final game, and when is the last time that happened?

No, Watford win is best for us IMO.

We don’t want Burnley pinching a five point lead ahead of Sunday.

That would have a psychological effect on both the team and the fans.

Come on Hornets ;)

I think Watford will get something, really unlucky vs Brentford a couple of weeks ago. I want them to win, but that in turn, makes our game vs them harder, but i'll take that
