Final points telly for Leeds - 35.

We will beat them from the drop by goal difference.
So we will beat Chelsea at home but Leeds won’t? I completely understand the optimism and trying to make the sums work. But we were doing all of this stuff about Burnley a few weeks ago and now they are winning every week. I think it’s done, hopefully I’m wrong, but I am certain that I’m not.

Leeds goal difference -34 with four games to go.
Everton goal difference -21 with six games to go.

Come on Everton come on the players come on Frank do us proud we MUST stay up!

You need to let this James and Digne thing go. That isn't the reason we are going down and both have been appalling at their new clubs.

Burley winning was a real kick in the teeth. Looking like we're chasing Leeds. But I'm accepting it now, I think it's too big of an ask, to claw back the 5 points. Take it to the write and hope for the best.

There you go mate.

It’s still in our hands in the sense that if we win every one of our remaining matches we stay up even if Burnley win every one of their remaining matches.

Realistically, though, we are almost certainly going to lose at Arsenal on the final day of the season. And we will almost certainly lose the Leicester away game.

Tomorrow is looking like a game that we simply can’t afford to lose. Lose it and realistically we are down. A draw would still leave us in with a shout.

My fear for tomorrow is that we will start poorly as we always do and our fans will become restless and possibly even angry. As we saw during the Benitez era (if you can call it that!) abusing our own players is counterproductive and usually leads to defeat.
Great post.

One thing you didn’t mention was Leeds. I know I’m possibly clutching at straws here, but we could still catch Leeds.

They’re only 5 points ahead of us and we have two games in hand on them. Plus their goal difference is MUCH worse than ours after that tonking by City today.

I think the plan will be to sell anyone we can sell, then go with what’s left.

Depending on how much we sell, we could still face a points deduction.

Essentially, the plan is managed decline and try and avoid a second relegation, For the second year in the Championship, the parachute payments reduce even further, meaning another attempt to shift the deadwood.

The plan really is just to try and control the tailspin and be able to come back fitter and leaner etc in a few years.
I think you’re being too optimistic.

There’s no way we stay up in the Championship if we get a massive points deduction and lose all our best players.

Haha. Fair play mate. Can’t fault your attitude at all. Hope you’re vaulting me like a madman come the end of may.

Well, the thinking in that could be, Leeds have an abysmal record vs the so-called 'big six' this season and, outside the top 2, ours isn't bad.
