Looks depressing doesn’t it?

Possibly. But if we were to, say, draw tomorrow and draw vs Leicester and Arsenal beat Leeds (three results not unrealistic) then we'd be three behind with a game in hand and much better goals difference. Get something tomorrow and we're well still in it.
It’s possible we could beat Chelsea tomorrow and Leicester next week while Arsenal beat Leeds and we’d be one point ahead with a game in hand.

We need to make eight points up on Leeds in the next 5 games to guarantee safety because we need that three point advantage going into the 38th game with the goal difference as it stands . They have Brentford away last game and we arsenal

Remember when we had Carlo and signed James and thought we might push for Europe? I doubt any club has ever had such a fall from grace in the space of 2 years.

Had a conversation with a Bolton supporting barber at the time we made that great start under Carlo. He genuinely thought we’d keep pace at the top. I told him no chance but I’d be disappointed if we didn’t at least push for European spots. Some fall from grace indeed. We have wrote the book on how not to run a club in the last few years. Seems like it was only a matter of time.

Here is a question for you all...would you really accept the type of "football" that Big Sam plays over any significant period of time?
No but maybe we need the like of Sam. And maybe more than a few months carlo is a genius top level manager and that papered over the fact Sam saved us from sinking the season prior.

I think you’re being too optimistic.

There’s no way we stay up in the Championship if we get a massive points deduction and lose all our best players.
Well quite. If I can be bothered staying interested, ill worry about staying in the championship next season. Not sure I can be bothered carrying on though.

Both Everton and Leeds have to play Chelsea, Arsenal and Brentford. If we assume that both teams get the same number of points from those three games then that means Everton have to pick up 5 points MORE from Watford, Leicester and Palace than Leeds do from Brighton. If Leeds beat Brighton then Everton would have to win all 3 (as you can't get 8 points from 3 games).

Two of those three games are away from home too and Everton have only picked up 2 points on the road since August.
