Of course I am aware that Burnley are somewhat rejuvenated under their new manager, but with the players that Villa have, they should be looking to take maximum points (minimum 4) from their home/away fixtures vs. Burnley. Especially knowing they also have City/Liverpool coming up.

I didn't say it was irrelevant, and please don't accuse me of naivety.

I said it wasn't necessarily a disadvantage. I stand by that. It's a motivator, as well as a pressuriser.
I actually think this is the kind of thing that sums up people as individuals. Some endlessly negative "crying it in" as they call it and, some like me, generally a positive person and know what i'd want if i was manager/player.

The number of hours is totally irrelevant. It still is a big disadvantage. Teams down the bottom should be kicking off at the same time. There's no excuse for it not to be the case.
It’s an interesting one. Perhaps all of the last 3 (or even 5) fixtures say, should kick off at the same time?

Exactly. No manager is going to let their team take the foot off the gas until his team is mathematically safe, and even then each position is worth plenty of dough so they keep fighting. Beating Burnley home and away is survival and a push towards the top half.

If there was the slightest hint of Gerrard wanting Villa to go easy on either Burnley or the reds in the run in he’d lose his job and his career would be in tatters. No club or dressing room is going to tolerate a manager with interests elsewhere.

With Klopp’s new contract even if he viewed Villa as a stopgap they are the only gig in town for him now. He isn’t getting a bigger job if he messes this one up.

I think it's crazy to suggest teams will just give up after they're safe. We'd never accept it and it was the reason the end of last season was so disappointing. Other teams fans, players and management have the same expectations.

It's £2.5m per place in the league. A top half finish potentially provides the funds to buy a half decent player etc. They could still finish 17th or 9th. There's £20m worth of prize money between those positions.

It's true that everyone is different. Really, it matters most what the strong characters in the dressing room respond to, as they pull the others with them.

Mina looked like he was loving it against Chelsea.

Leeds will now only have one game left to play by the time we kick off the Brentford game. It’s unlikely but conceivable that we might only need a point for safety and knowing that would of course be an advantage.

I think that playing second could be a disadvantage psychologically where we are now in the run in but when you are right at the business end knowing what you need becomes an advantage. For example as things stand Burnley kick off 15 minutes after us on the Thursday and that would be seen as advantage to them. I assume unless one team is safe by then the kick off will move to the same.

Aye. The World cup final group games used to kick off at different times....they ended it as they felt it was too advantageous for the team(s) kicking off "later" (not earlier) knowing what result they needed (e.g. Argentina vs Peru; West Germany vs Austria)

Villa, Southampton and Brentford all need points which is absolute madness given a few weeks ago it looked like 35 points would get survival. I think dragging Southampton into it would be a my preferred outcome looking at fixtures. Although, you would be nervous as a Villa fan if they don't beat Burnley.

Christ I hadn't even noticed that!

We really do need Arsenal and Chelsea to show them absolutely no mercy whatsoever then. As I'm pretty certain they'll take at least something from their final fixture against Brighton.

If they announced that the final day of the season's fixtures were going to be split across two days (Game 1 kicking off at 12.00 on Saturday and Game 10 starting at 8.00pm Sunday) there's no way any manager would choose to be Game 1.
