If it goes down to the last day we will be favourites to go down IMO. Still very much a possibility that we can scrape survival before then though.

I agree, in my head the Arsenal game is already gone, but I think we will be safe before then.

If Burnley or Leeds had out fixtures and we had either of theirs we would all be saying we are gone. The Chelsea win really was massive. It’s changed the game, Leeds and Burnley fans definitely had us down to lose that.

Leeds will now only have one game left to play by the time we kick off the Brentford game. It’s unlikely but conceivable that we might only need a point for safety and knowing that would of course be an advantage.

I think that playing second could be a disadvantage psychologically where we are now in the run in but when you are right at the business end knowing what you need becomes an advantage. For example as things stand Burnley kick off 15 minutes after us on the Thursday and that would be seen as advantage to them. I assume unless one team is safe by then the kick off will move to the same.
imagine if we are 3 points above leeds on the final day of the season and they need like a 20 goal swing to go in their favour lol

Really hope Arsenal have nailed 4th (or are cemented in 5th) by that point. They play Spurs soon so hoping that settles it.
The weird thing about Arsenal is they have a recent history of being a bit mentally soft so if they need a result in the final game for CL football it might actually be better for us for them to be under pressure.

If they have nothing to play for then with the pressure off they could end up putting on a stress free show for the fans and playing us off the park. I don’t know what I’d be hoping for.

Might be best if we both need a point

Just our luck that Leeds, Burnley, Brentford and Newcastle are suddenly all above Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea in the form table.

We can't take anything for granted. Anything could happen. Can you imagine how pissed off Burnley/Leeds fans are over Man U and Chelsea getting knocked off by us?

Well, maybe not at Man U. They're so hopeless Burnley/Leeds fans probably thought 3pts for us was easy meat.

And massively increased the pressure.

I think it's a very significant disadvantage. The only time Burnley lost recently was the week we played first, won against United and put the pressure on them. And they got played off the park by a dire Norwich side.

It absolutely has an effect. Very naive to think it's irrelevant.

It isn't though, knowing the task in hand is better. Also, when there's a Sunday slot, the bigger teams tend to have the 'prime' 4.00pm kick off, not the earlier one.

See above - it's a very real disadvantage.

You'd need to be a sports psychologist to know for sure. And a psychologist probably would give a straight forward answer. It'll be mostly down to the individual. There's added pressure but more urgency.

I think the fact that there are so many subjective viewpoints for whether it is a disadvantage or an advantage just lends even more weight to the case for a uniform kick off time to be honest.

Exactly. No manager is going to let their team take the foot off the gas until his team is mathematically safe, and even then each position is worth plenty of dough so they keep fighting. Beating Burnley home and away is survival and a push towards the top half.

If there was the slightest hint of Gerrard wanting Villa to go easy on either Burnley or the reds in the run in he’d lose his job and his career would be in tatters. No club or dressing room is going to tolerate a manager with interests elsewhere.

With Klopp’s new contract even if he viewed Villa as a stopgap they are the only gig in town for him now. He isn’t getting a bigger job if he messes this one up.

Gerrard is self obsessed. He doesn't even give a flying one about Liveroool either. It's all PR.
