Anyone who thinks we just roll Watford over and get out of this situation easily really hasn’t been paying attention to Everton football club.
They will wring more pain out of this yet.
Not really sure why anyone thinks we have it in us to go away to anybody in this league and beat the brakes off them. Just using memory, I think we've only had two routine wins all season, Leeds and Brentford (which was a cup match). We've played three actual Championship sides this season and went life and death with all three.

If we win on Wednesday, then it will probably be by the odd scruffy goal and will be a real battle, this team isn't good enough to do any better. They've been dragged kicking and screaming in recent weeks to results their talent would otherwise be incapable of by a an unbelievable fanbase and a manager who refused to wilt.

We just have to hope these players have got 4 more battles in them before we thank them for their belated efforts this season and good fortune for their careers away from Everton.

We’ve definitely missed a creative spark this season with James going and the other chap being unavailable. If we had a bit more quality in the final third I think we’d probably never have been in this position as we’d have nicked a few more results by now.

If anyone had offered me 7 points from Chelsea Leicester and Watford I’d have sawn my arm off for it so I’d take a draw at Watford (just because I don’t think we go from not getting an away point to winning two on the spin so easily, although I hope I’m wrong)

The scenario we want to avoid is having to win both games at home to stay up (or even worse, needing something from the last game). I think drawing with Watford and winning one of the home games might just about do it for us, but what we don’t want is to lose to Watford then lose that first home game because then the pressure is right back on.

I understand why people feel like this, but it wasn't a lack of quality that meant we went so long without an away win, it was lack of belief.

I honestly think the fans have changed that for the players now. Something seismic has shifted since the moment the team bus was welcomed to Goodison against Chelsea.

Being as objective about this as I can be, I'd be very surprised if we don't win on Wednesday.

Hope you’re right because that would almost put it to bed in my view. It’s a great opportunity for us, I’m just always wary of teams that have just been relegated, sometimes the shackles are off, or they throw a few kids in and all of a sudden can pull off a big win. Luckily Hodgson is not really that sort of manager under any circumstances but with our injuries in defence and the likes of Kenny Keane Coleman around I wouldn’t put it past us to make a mistake and then have to chase against a Hodgson team that probably wants to sit in.

Here’s hoping we get the first goal though and they just give up.

Wouldn't take much to change those odds though. If we lose on Wednesday and Leeds get a result against Chelsea, or Burnley get a result against Spurs, there would be a huge change.

We have a big opportunity on Wednesday to go a long way to safety. But if we don't take it, things could get quite difficult again. Complacency is the biggest threat right now. We need more and no one can afford to relax and take their foot off the pedal, or we could easily drop back to 18th.
And all them ifs are factored into the bookies odds. We aren't safe but we are by a good bit the side in the best position

A win at Watford will probably be enough as I can see Leeds and Burnley not getting much from their final games. The survivor will be one that can scramble a win or get a couple of draws.

I know this is an entirely pointless exercise, but I'll do it for fun anyway.

Currently 1 clear with 1 game in hand. By 10pm on Wednesday, we'll have played our game in hand on Burnley, while Leeds will have played a game more than both with 36 games.

If we can mirror the week's results compared to Leeds (we win, they lose) we can be 4 points clear of both them and Burnley with a goal difference advantage Leeds have no chance of clawing back, and likely level with Burnley on GD.

That would mean we're safe if:
- We get 3 points in our final 3 games
- If Leeds drop any points in their final two games (they could still match our points, but not our goal difference)

Both Leeds (Brighton at home) and Burnley (away at Spurs) play before us on Saturday. We can be assured (not mathematically, but see goal difference situation above) of safety if Leeds don't win, as they aren't turning around a 15+ goal difference deficit in 2 games.

And even if Leeds do win, we can be 100% mathematically safe if we beat Brentford providing we've beaten Watford.

Just said in the match thread - IF we stay up. This season could potentially be a blessing in disguise. It's been toxic for far too long.

Now we have a manager we're behind. Some players showing their worth, a chance to boot out those who aren't up for the fight and a standard set.

Players like Iwobi have set a standard for themselves now. They won't be allowed to drop off ever again.

We have an atmosphere back, a feel good factor around the club.

Summer is HUGE. Let's hope the board can stay well away from everything and have zero involvement.
I'm quietly confident now. I can breathe again. There's no way we're losing our home games.

They've lost 11 home matches in a row.

Statistically, scientifically, there's no better place to go if you want an away win in the Premier League.

I'm not saying we'll definitely win, but raw probability is on our side.
