I've thought that if we don't win tomorrow, I can see Burnley beating Newcastle given what's at stake in that game.

... But then Newcastle's performance vs Arsenal, maybe their players are desperate to be part of what's going to happen there/playing for their futures...
Newcastle are the last team you'd want pitching up in your last game and needing to beat right at the moment. Guimaraes is bang in form and they break impressively.

That said, they've done much better at St James Park than away and dont tend to draw.

They were regarded as second rate compared to Everton.

That's because the FA Cup was the bigger deal back then, and we'd won it 3 times and they hadn't won it.

We also had the better stadium and more cash.

Everton have been the dominant club in the city far longer than Liverpool have.

I agree, but the idea that they'd won nothing until the 60's isn't true. . We may have been bigger for longer- true- but their periods of dominance has been over everyone- not just the city- and we've never really had a period of dominance overall (like they did- Utd did- City, Arsenal back in the 30s etc) and our trophy return isn't 'great' considering that we've had a head start on most teams by being one of the 'originals'.

Spurs struggled to beat Burnley the other day. Needed a penalty to go ahead.
They went full damage-limitation mode at Spurs which you can see from the stats, and I suspect that they'll do similar at Villa. At home to Newcastle on the final day they'll be expected to at least try and score one or two as I reckon internally they'll be hedging their bets on that game to stay up.

Wow, great comeback, well done. 15 major trophies ever??? Yeah, amazing. Chelsea has won more than that in the past 20-odd years. But yeah "we had loads of money in the 60 and they called us the Millionaires" (as if this is something to brag about).
In fairness mate, Chelsea had a strong uncatchable start with Abramovich 20 years ago, before that they were nothing, they then spent billions to achieve what they have whilst it got shut off for the rest of us after City did the same.

But we were regarded as a chequebook team in the 60s (as well as the likes of Spurs) but, despite this, we didn't win much (that was my point). One league title and one fa cup in the whole decade (and that is one of our more memorable times, in terms of great players etc). I know we won the 69/70 title, of course, but wouldn't that count in the next decade's honours list (it can't be both)?
