We went into January - even left January without fully realising the relegation trouble we were in. Not having a DoF for any of the month, and not having a manager for half of it clearly didn’t help.

Back from my ban, yay!
Proper winds me up that. All of them sitting around table thinking “I know what we need, 2 fullbacks who aren’t ready and a winger who hasn’t played in a year”

Knowing full well Mina was done for and our other centre backs are awful, knowing that Allan and Doucore can’t hold a midfield.

The recruitment at this club has been nothing short of farcical. Literally no plan because the owner doesn’t have a scooby

It’s just laughable. If Moshiri had let brands pick his own manager and work on his own signings then we might have seen some improvement. That being said, Brands deserves all the flak he gets for not standing up to the owner. He was happy to take a salary until the fans turned sour on him.

I think i'm in the minority from what i've seen but I actually don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. We keep being told that the players are terrified of the fans and the fans have to be nice to the players and not get annoyed with them for not being able to/trying to do their highly paid job to an acceptable standard, maybe this will allow the players to see that the fans actually just really care about the club and are scared and nervous, and they really don't need to be worried about a negative reaction if they just go out and give it their all.

Yeah I see that side of things too - think the players should know how much the fans care though, they need to understand that what they are messing with really is some fans lives, and their inability to put a performance in does effect their week.

Personally, I would want it to be a humbling experience for them, understanding how much it takes out of a 80 year old to come the game, getting to his seat, to see 0 effort put in, understanding the effect it has on a new generation of fans coming the game for the first time and how in my case my little boy cried his heart out because the team lost.

I want them to understand what it means to fans, make them humble and then. fight for every blade of grass.

Not swan about and think its acceptable, 1 in performance or 2 to say the same "our position is not good enough" speech.

Action. not words.

brands can suck on my cherries. he is a massive reason why we are in this position, along with Wals.. How can people defend him is beyond me.

He can’t be defended imo. His job was to convince the owner to follow his vision and let him make all the footballing calls. He massively failed to do that.

It was never going to work as our owner had linked up with Kia Joorabachin from day one, he destroys clubs and there is a good reason he is not allowed to operate as an official agent anymore.

It's the fans fault again .
It’s everyone’s fault. We need to play a part to help our club stay up but instead we just bitch and moan because the build up play is too slow, or a player gives the ball away or we don’t agree with the team selection.

How about supporters try and control the controllable. Do our part and hope that the rest do theirs.

Yeah it was probably never going to work given our owner’s crackpot way of doing things. But I can’t defend brands for acquiescing to it until the whole club started to unravel.

I suppose ultimately it goes back to Bill needing to do a bit more due diligence on who the right investor should have been.

Not sure about this move with fans stories etc.

I can understand it as a desperate move, but I don't think professional players attach huge significance to this sort of thing.

Its sort of like The RS "This means more" emotional heart-tugging, ironically for them they don't need that sort of pseudo-psychology at all.

I'd be surprised if the players weren't aware on some level as to how important avoiding the drop is to fans and what effect not doing so might have on some more than others. The relationship between that and making more of an effort on the pitch on a given day isn't clear to me.

If, conversely, such reactions would come as complete shock to the players and they decided they have got to start putting in some shifts here, then in my view that would reflect even worse on them considering the abject nature of results and performances over a very long period.

It seems to me that the best way to make players who have seemed mentally weak under pressure for quite some time play better, isn't by increasing the pressure on them.
If we want a way to motivate and provide an example of how you can be respected by Evertonians despite overall under performance, show them Barry Horne, Limpar or Farrelly. Being in this deepest of holes means someone has the chance to write their name in our history just by producing one or two good moments in these last few games when we really need them. They don't need to morph into Peter Reid or Brian Labone overnight, it's not too late, they can have been awful all season but just step up now. Think of it like a fresh start!

Theyre pathetic elite sportsmen in privileged positions IMO.

"I can't play properly cos Tony in the lower Gwladys keeps pulling faces at me"

You're getting relegated mate. Have some pride.
