brands can suck on my cherries. he is a massive reason why we are in this position, along with Wals.. How can people defend him is beyond me.

There's a difference between someone not doing their job well, and not being allowed to do their job

If Brands was given full reign by Moshiri and did what he did then yes, he deserved to be sacked and deserves the criticism

But he wasn't allowed to choose managers, players etc, which was literally his job - so, it's hard to criticise Brands too much when every failing and issue with the club stems from Moshiri

You can't fault Moshiri for his commitment either - but everything he does brings the club closer to ruin day after day - it is a full on circus show

So the Brands situation and our recent transfer activity - the two defenders are promising but they aren't the experienced short term solution. We are short all over the pitch. One things for sure, unless there's a rocket going up Dele's backside he'll be a free agent come end of June.

So our next 3 league games are Newcastle (H), West Ham (A) and then Burnley (A)
Burnley next game is Man City (H)
Watford next league game is Liverpool (A)

This will take us to 29 games same as Burnley and 1 behind Watford.

Thats a good run for us, obviously they way we are playing right now is awful but if we can at least get 4 or 5 points minimum that's a good start as I can't see Watford and Burnley winning those fixtures.

The Burnley game will be even more vital depending on how we do in the 2 previous games.

I have hope, not a great amount but enough to see us survive but it will be close

A sizable amount of us have been saying, for years, we need to stop going for the castoffs from clubs and target young players in the Championship who would kill to be at this level. Instead we bring in Dele Alli who has 0 motivation and El Ghazi, a never was from a team that was around us at the time in a position we didn't need any help at.

The recruitment has been utterly shambolic the last 5+ years. There isn't any semblance of long term vision. It's why we are where we are.

when we bought Bolasie, Williams and Siggurdson that was when the alarm bells should have started ring. All sub standard and over priced.

Whats annoying is we all thought with money are recruitment would get better but it actually got worse. Targetting young players in the Championship...etc has to be the way forward, Moyes did great going for lower players, now we are skint again im hoping its what Frank can do, he did well with Chelsea youth he bought through

It's mad. We had the opportunity to spend on prospective talent (akin to Stones, Fellaini) and we fluffed it. Talent that 7/10 will be shipped on for more money and/or do well with us. In the end we spent a tonne of money on players over their peak with no sell on value (hence the FFP issue). I hate to praise the RS but their transfer policy is one to emulate. Granted they have the funds to buy the odd marquee player, but we didn't even try the "buy young(ish) take a chance" approach.

There is not a lot to be positive about at the moment and it looks like just getting a goal will be a struggle never mind winning a game. However, there are numerous examples in previous years where teams in a similar position or worse suddenly spring to life and get the required results to save themselves. Wigan, for example, in 2011-12 ended the season with 43 points (15th) but looked dead and buried until winning 7 of the last 9 games. Not saying Everton will do that but often even poor teams hit a run of form and pick up some points at the back end of the season. Hopefully Everton can do that. Just 3 or 4 wins could be sufficient. Is that too much to ask?

I at least understand the logic of Williams. He came off a commanding Euros(I think it was the Euros?) and our problem was pure defending. With Stones going we thought Williams was going to be basically Distin and that...was not accurate.

The other 2 were shocking tho and I still can't believe how much money we wasted on 2 players the vast majority were thoroughly against bringing in for what they cost or even at all.

Exactly, in Moshiri's first AGM with Brands he explicitly said he wanted to buy young players at higher fees but lower wages. We literally have done everything BUT that.

Way too much time on my hands today so here's an Everton-related Smiths Top 10
1. Panic
2. Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
3. This Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
4. Goal Afraid
5. Money Changes Absolutely Nothing
6. Still Ill (our myriad of missing players throughout the season)
7. Nowhere Fast
8. Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before (Seamus' regular post-match apologetic speech)
9. Unloveable
10. Miserable Lie (Carlo the snake's wish remain at the club for the stadium move

But remember, if the worst does occur, at least we're not bloody Kopites and "There is a light that never goes out".

Does anyone believe this "Everton to show fans stories/views"? Who has been asked? When are they showing them? The game is tomorrow and I don't know of a single person who's been asked?

How would it even work, they could ask the fella 2 rows in front of me and get a very different opinion than mine. He kicked off at me in the last game asking "what more do I want" and that "we're playing well. It's all fine"

The fella behind me told us to stop being dramatic when we talk of relegation. I just can't see how it could possibly be true. Far too much effort and time involved.
