First bit is probably true, the highlighted bit is a load of twaddle - just you going after a click bait fix again!
Whether they wanted it or not, it was a by-product of the actions of many fans who just wouldn't get behind the team with Benitez in charge.

IMO the silent majority of Evertonians know that to be true. They know we are in this mess right now because we basically saw the confidence drain out of this team - a team that took the option of folding rather than fighting for a manager they knew a vocal cohort of fans wantecd out of his job. That cost us about 15-20 points this season. No way we would have seen a collapse like this if Benitez had not been the manager.

Yes a very fortunate 6 points. 94th minute winner v Norwich and then Jimenez unlucky to be sent when wolves were cruising.

People seem to think Brentford and Leeds are
Now safe.

4 points behind Leeds 5 behind Brentford.
We play 4 games over the next 3 weeks, while Brentford have 3 and Leeds 2. If we have clawed some of that gap back. We will still have games in hand on both
imo, it’s between 4 now, I can’t see Leeds or Brentford being involved, they’d have to lose virtually every remaining match......possible but unlikely. So Norwich, then 2 out of us, Watford & Burnley :(

Yeah it’s unlikely the other two will go down at this stage, providing they get a couple of wins. It’s still very much in our own hands though. Get a few wins on the board and we’re fairly safe.

But if we got 4 points from our next 3 games. To take us 29 the same as Leeds but a better goal difference and a point behind Brentford, With them to come to goodison, on the same number of games, would you consider us safe? I know it’s better to have the points at this stage.

Prior to both of them winning 2 games. Leeds had gone 7 defeats and a draw out of 8. And Brentford 8 defeats and a draw out of 9.

I think you were a bit of a fan of Rafael, Deeks.
But his powers were waning by the time he came to Everton.
It was a disastrous appointment.
We should have got a hard nut in.
Perm one of several.

I think this is our year for the drop. The confidence of the players is very low, that can happen when you have six months with a manager who is constantly telling you that you're not good enough to do anything but park the bus. We also, since December, have looked the worst team in the division. I don't honestly see us getting more than 31points and I don't think that will be enough.

I really hope that I am wrong, because, even though Everton have played outside the top flight in my lifetime, I was too young to remember it and I really don't want to see it now. Still what will be will be.

Matchday coming around again. Oh dear. Away day. Oh hell of hells. I would have more enthusiasm for a trip to the dentist. And at least visiting him, I can say it was worth it despite the pain.

I'd nearly prefer at this stage just to hibernate through the remaining games and awaken at the finish to see our fate. It seems to be the approach the players are taking.

Watford and Burnley would need miracles to get anything out of the RS and City this weekend.

If we could just get a point against West Ham then we could be 4 ahead of Watford and 5 ahead of Burnley.

A win against Burnley the following week and they would need 3 wins from 9 just to catch out points total after our 29 gsmes.

4pts from the next 2 and i think we'd be very close to safety.

Easier said than done.

Come Sunday night we could be laughing

I am just trying to be positive with the break that it will ne a postive thing for us helping players get back into form and have them training with the manager. If we get the results we need could finally get us safe. Then can move on and start to plan for next season.

The last time I thought we were in this much danger of going down was just before Kevin Campbell scored those 9 goals in 8 games. He’d already played two games before this, and shown no signs of what was to come! The game before his first goal was a defeat at home to Sheff Wed, in which we showed very little fight. I really thought we were goners!

We dropped into the relegation zone after that loss and only had 6 games left! Looked awful too, but then Super Kev started scoring and we turned a corner. All we need is for something to spark like that for us again out of nowhere this season
