How do we compare how Lampard is doing, my opinion is that he could have done better. Yes we all understand the attitude of this squad but having a settled formation, style and team is far more conducive to changing your fortunes than changing formation game by game and changing the way they play within that, IMO.

We don`t need to look to far to see how this works, look at Howe at Newcastle. Went in, they were dead and buried and adopted a 4-1-4-1 cum 4-3-3 formation and almost instantly he got points, don`t forget this was BEFORE they had the lads in the January window. 4-1-4-1 was the choice of Moyes don`t forget and the same formation he is taking forward at West Ham. Man City is probably the best exponents of this style.

Howes 1st 7 games claimed 5 points for the barcodes, 1 win 2 draws and 4 defeats. The 11 games since they have claimed 21 points, again it appears they started slow as they learnt the tactics but then have taken off going on a very good run.

Lampards 1st 7 Premier League games by comparison have brought 6 points (0.86 PPG) which consists of 2 wins and 5 defeats, if we continue with that PPG we will end the season on 34 points. Will that be enough, it maybe but it may not and is probably too close for comfort.

Newcastle are reaping the rewards of playing with consistent formation, consistent tactics and a consistent selection which has brought about consistent results. I don`t think we will get that with Lampard and all the tinkering he does. 5 at the back does not suit this side, 2 in the middle does not suit this side yet this is what we persists with!

I`m all for Lampard but FFS pick a formation and style and stick to it!

So the takeaway is Lampard has 1 pt more than Howe from his first 7 league games.

Of course we have also had a good number of suspensions and injuries since Lampard took over. The changes are not always his choice. I still think his backroom is the brains here and they are trying to complete a Rubiks cube. Sadly like me they may never find the answer....

James, Siggy and Digne.

How many goals and assists they had made last season? No wonder we struggle to score.

4 of Sigurdsson’s goals were pens so you can take those off the tally immediately because we’ve had DCL and Townsend score those this season.

Yes but the next 11 Howe has 21 points, will Lampard get 20 points between now and the end of the season? No we won`t because we haven`t bedded down the same consistency...

I dont think Newcastle having the advantage of dropping £100mil is 'consistency'...

If anything its hard for Lampard to pick a settled back 4 as all the senior pros have let him down.

Id go Patterson Godfrey Branthwaite Mykolenko playing a Villas-Boas style high line and just go for it...until Mina is back.

He has been trusting Coleman, Holgate, Keane, Kenny so far and theyve let him down.

I agree but they are trying to solve a Rubiks cube when it probably only needs to be a 4 piece puzzle!

The way we played against Newcastle at home we looked good defensively yet that was abandoned for the 5-2-3 at Spurs and we know how that went. In that Newcastle game we played a 4-2-3-1 with Gordon in the 10 dropping in on their deepest midfielder Guimaraes, Alli or Richy could probably do that job as well.

It probably doesn`t need to be any more complicated than that!
