In what way will league placing money be tie up with tv appearance? Isn't it straight forward 1st 15 million 2nd 14 million etc?

The tv money is divided into two bits. The first part is given equally to each PL club. The second part is based on appearences. Obviously the higher you are in the league, generally speaking the more appearences you'll have on tv therefore there is a correlation between the two.

yeah, you get an amount depending on your respective positions, I think it works out to be about 350k per position, also you get a tv revenue depending on what competitions you are entered into for the following year, which can obviously change depending on how far you go and how many times your matches are televised. this can change if league games get moved and the possibility of tv becomes available for the new date.

that type of thing.

I am not completely sure axl, but I think the figure is around 18mil. Give me a short while and I will clarify that figure.

So how much does 5th place get in terms of price money - excluding TV money.

In prize money alone Spurs got £7,759,376 (and 73p between friends). Newcastle in 7th were awarded £6,789,454. For interests sake, we got £4,849,610 for our 11th place finish and Chelsea got £9,669,220 for winning the PL.

Incidently, when we finished 4th the season before last we earnt £8,244,298 in prize money.

has that figure jumped at all bruce?. I realise I gave a figure far too high and obviously included other award monies.

Bruce, you and your stats/facts are amazing. If we can really get 25 to 30 million for next season, I don't see any reason why we cannot afford fernandes even after taking away money to cover the wages of our squad for the whole season.

Don't forget there's UEFA prize money, EPL gate earning, sponsorship deal etc.
The future's promising!

This year is the final season on the existing tv deal so it won't rise by much place for place, but of course we should finish much higher than last season. Next year is the start of the new deal so we'll have much higher income then.

Just some thoughts that is out of topic... with all these huge money coming in, I wonder who will benefit the most. The fans, the players or the clubs. Time will tell if it will have a negative or positive effect.

It's traditional for around 60% of any increase in tv money to go straight into higher wages.
