These contracts don't mean [Poor language removed] anymore look what happened with Payet but i suppose it needs to be done to cover our own back nothing to get excited about though when a big club comes in it's almost certain he'll leave even if we ever do finish in top 4 players just use champions league football as a excuse to leave

Poor example. Payet did 18 months at WHU Lukaku is in his 4tg year. Payet had done this to previous clubs and was known for having a poor attitude, Lukaku again differs to that. If there is a release clause then Everton won't have agreed to it u less it guarantees them more than what they would get for him this summer with just the two years remaining. There are no negatives to this deal (if it happens) no matter how much the usual suspects tell us there is.

At the worst it means we have agreed favourable terms if he leaves us, at best it means he is happy and wants to stay. In the modern day football world not sure you can get better than that although obviously hope it is the latter.
Exactly.

This is pretty much a guarantee that we'll get a decent fee and that Lukaku has no intention of being a tit in the summer and forcing us to sell at a knock down price with Suarez/Payet-like behaviour. It suggests Lukaku is happy to stay if the right offer doesn't come in and that the decision to sell will be the club's or at least the club get to decide the price now (buy-out clause).

For all we know a CL club may have already decided they want him at whatever the buy-out number is, so this doesn't mean he'll stay, but we'll be alright if he leaves.

HERE IS THE NEWS so HOLD ON TIGHT....Lukaku signing a new deal..........did he negotiate over the TELEPHONE LINE?
To celebrate the news I might have a NIGHT IN THE CITY but hope I won't be STANDIN' IN THE RAIN.

That's enough for now IT'S OVER.
Its not over over til the fat lady sings
"MR BLUE SKY"

We all know contracts mean nothing.

If Everton do not match his ambitions he will still leave.

That said, it won't be for anything less than a very hefty fee, and it also shows we have moved on from not being able to keep our really big name players any more.

Great news and all credit to Mosh. This time last year Rom, his agent and even his dad were desperately trying to engineer an exit.
The Mosh effect has seen a big change in attitude and at least now we'll be guaranteed a big fee if/when he goes. I hope this is reinforced by big investment in players this summer and not just headlines alluding to such.
J White was given the scoop in return for his and Skys increase in positive coverage. Smart.

All contracts have clauses written into them, and when you are a top player you have even more bargaining power than most.
I would guess there is a healthy pay rise and I think certain bench marks have been set for the team which if not met will allow the player to leave for a pre agreed lesser value.
I would guess that reaching the CL is one of those benchmarks.
