Reports: Lukaku agrees new five year deal

Poor example. Payet did 18 months at WHU Lukaku is in his 4tg year. Payet had done this to previous clubs and was known for having a poor attitude, Lukaku again differs to that. If there is a release clause then Everton won't have agreed to it u less it guarantees them more than what they would get for him this summer with just the two years remaining. There are no negatives to this deal (if it happens) no matter how much the usual suspects tell us there is.
Erm.. hang on a minute poor example? Isn't this the player who signed a new 5 year contract end of last season with a whopping 1 million loyalty bonus? It doesn't matter how long a player has been at a club didn't stop Van Persie forcing a move to their arch rivals at the time. Not once did i say it's a negative i said "suppose it has to be done to cover our own backs" It's just a safety net to stop him leaving on the cheap nobody knows how he'll react if we turn down any offer from big clubs including myself nothing is a guaranteed in football Payet is prime example

You could indeed say that.

But I am buggered if I can think of any reason Rom's agent would want to tie him into a longer contract which means the price to take him away increases dramatically and narrows the pool of potential suitors.

I will take it at face value.....he has signed (if indeed they have found the Bic biro yet) and will be here for at least one more season and probably one more after that.

And if he does go in t'summer...we get more money for him.

What's not to like about Rom penning a new deal?

It is all good, Mo ;)

Agreed, I feel very good about this and I am hoping for the best.

im just trying to protect myself from the fall if he does end up leaving.

Maybe I'm being too negative, but even with the progress we've potentially made this year, I feel like we really need to get to the euros to keep the momentum going.

Payet had form for it. Lukaku doesn't. Payet had been there 18 months, but in truth gave up after 12 Lukaku is about to complete his 48th month. IMHO these situations are different.

This can surely only be good news for the club.
He either stays longer than we thought we would, or there'll be a clause which will mean we'll get great business out of him.

Funny how Jim White is the main Everton ITK now. Definitely a bit of Quid pro quo here, they get to break our stories, we get.....something I guess?

Sky at USM FF for a day? Better coverage? Talked up more by the Sky biffs?

Everton's association with him is a matter of shame.

What serious club has an utter throbbing gristle like him as its tribune to the world?

Hope we've put a massive buy - out clause in if true.
I'd prefer no clause. If Liverpool can do it with Coutinho they we can with Lukaku and in the future if another club wants him, they can prove it by paying the going rate.

One thing is for sure Everton don't sell cheap so if there is a clause it will suit us as much as it does them.

Why? He's a journalist/presenter for the main media outlet associated with the Premier League.

Sure, he's a bit of a bell, but "matter of shame"? He's not Joseph Goebbels.

If he gets a few crumbs from the table, and we get a higher profile - I'm all for it.

You have been here long enough to know how Dave tends to over do praise, and criticism mate!
