Reports: Lukaku agrees new five year deal

I'm sure this has probably been said in the previous pages but as we all know Suarez signed a new 4 1/2 year deal with Liverpool in December 2013 and then signed for Barcelona in July 2014, a mere 7 months later.

I am pretty sure that Lukaku's agent would have insisted on some kind of clause that if everton do not qualify for Europe / champs league then Lukaku is allowed to leave if an offer is made in excess of x million or if certain clubs make a bid i.e. madrid, barca, psg, juve etc.

The main thing about this new deal is that it will at least benefit it us because we do not need to sell Lukaku for a reduced fee now and we not have to worry about him running his contract down. We have a world class player who is still young and his value can only increase and we should be able to get decent money for him in order to find a replacement player if we do end up selling him.

It benefits both parties in that Lukaku gets his wish to play in the champs league and we get decent money for him.

Ideally we qualify for champs league or Europe this season and lukaku stays with us for the next 5 years and signs a new contract 2-3 years down the line and we win trophies.

All of that is totally true, and possible outcomes.

But I think the seismic change is THAT. We have said world class player on a 5 year deal. That means said deal will be a massive wedge, which we have to honour if he falls off a cliff. It also shows the wider football world that we are a club to do business with.

Playing the game aint it? We have been moaning for beards that we get rubbish treatment, now, a bit different. But for all we know, White and the Boss might have been mates for ages. London based, football interests, similar ages. No idea mind.
Playing the game indeed and I'm loving this new Everton who are demanding to be noticed.

They could well have been mates prior to all this but I'm guessing that self made billionaires don't miss many business opportunities that come their way. Jim White is but a mere conduit for our return to the top table.

Well in Everton.

I was wondering my self how long it will take for any details of a buyout clause to emerge, if there is one in his new deal of course.

Why? He's a journalist/presenter for the main media outlet associated with the Premier League.

Sure, he's a bit of a bell, but "matter of shame"? He's not Joseph Goebbels.

If he gets a few crumbs from the table, and we get a higher profile - I'm all for it.
We dont want, nor need, to be within the orbit of that low feeder radio station or any of its ridiculous presenters.

The fact that Moshiri has us in the gravitational pull of that buffoon media outlet is a black mark against him and his judgement quite frankly.

Or, he is playing said buffoon like a piano, lobbing him a jelly baby in return for a massive increase in our profile and reputation in, by a mile, the most influential UK football media outlet?

Do you really see having your club's name coming out of the mouth of this as a positive thing?

Would love to hear your thoughts on how else to raise the clubs profile in the UK. Sounds like its your subject matter.

I was actually thinking about the quite high profile TV station that White works for, which televises the majority of available games, and plays a huge role in setting the media narrative and deciding which clubs get attention at a given time, and how a club is perceived outside its own fan base.

You want us to be a huge, successful club but not associate ourselves with any media buffoons? Good luck with that mate.

Meanwhile, back on thread....
For those interested, I managed to get a copy of the main page of the Lukaku contract. Couldn't get hold of the other, more interesting, 145 pages of clauses though.
