If you sign a new 5 year contract in March, I'd say there's a very good chance you're not going to be sold that summer. Regardless of what anyone says. Will he be here for the next 5 years? Probably not unless either we start reaching the CL or his form declines dramatically. But I think it's highly likely he'll be here for another season. Yeah, there have been other players at other clubs who sign a new deal and then are gone within 6 months. But this rarely happens at Everton. Usually if a star player signs a new lengthy deal, it means at least one more year at the club, not that their sale is imminent.
If Rom was looking to leave, he'd not sign a new contract and just enter the summer with just 2 years left on his contract, making it as easy enough for himself to leave as possible.
Him signing a new deal indicates he believes in the EFC project and he's very happy with the wages on offer. Hopefully we can get the 4 big deals in the summer that White promised and kick on.
