Hi All,

With regret, I've disabled the reputation system.

Unfortunately, despite best efforts to minimise potential abuse (Negative Rep prompting a moderator alert) - we have had a handful of absolute idiots abusing the system. Those idiots will shortly find themselves permanently banned for being malicious, misrepresenting our community and wasting our time.

The reputation system will be revamped and back shortly.

To be fair Nigel, it did work as a great tool for acknowledging a good post for a long time.

The problem was that people figured out that the negative rep system annoyed volatile people, so certain people used it to goad people into exploding in public for the sake of "popcorn".

Getting rid of the negative rep and keeping the positive rep system would be the call - but I'm sure making such a suggestion will allow people to make out like I'm campaigning to be the Mayor of GOT or something as per.

Never saw the need to provide a facility that was always open to abuse not all posters want to indulge in the chit chat beyond subjects Everton and that doesn't mean they should be attacked - unfortunately this happens.

I've commented on this before and for every anonymous snide remark I get as a result I get a signed "well said" comment from those equally as mystified by the whole business.

My proposal would be a no comment green points allocation only to show your love there is not a single reason to surreptitiously be negative to a fellow evertonian, not a one.

If people don't agree with opinion that's what the main board is for - debate within the rules (actually it's the same even if you agree).

For those whom popularity is important they can have a massive green line under their name and for those who aren't arsed in the slightest stalking will cease.

This site will be 1000% better if people can't get round the rules of decency and respect.

Suspecting this won't happen and in the event of some kind of "negative" system being re-introduced - anonymity absolutely encourages the snide and bad feeling and shouldn't be allowed.

An instantaneous report button as per the main board would be a necessity - I could never report my stalkers beyond sending PMs and emails and after a while you can't be arsed.

Great day for the site entirety not just the few.

Wouldn't it be better to allow one green or red square each like? I didn't like the weighted system so someone with a load of rep could perma KITT some lid that they didn't like on a whim. The system needs to be a bit more communist.

Like it or not it's been at the very heart of GOT for beards. It's had pictures drawn in it's honour, poems and songs. It even gave birth to forum super heroes. What the actual [Poor language removed]? But it was GOT. Sad day if the new version is proper cack.

All your fault micknick.

Or they could just remove the anonymity?

Wouldn't really matter. The mods are already completely aware of the people who have been neg repping and those doing it know they are aware of that fact - so there's little respect for the rules or the Mod duties - and those who are doing it right now couldn't care less if the object of the "fun" knows it's them doing it or not.

That's my view anyway. I'd just say get rid of the neg rep because nothing good ever comes of it. I mean what's the point of it anyway? If you disagree with what someone says, respond to it in the forum openly. I think it'd be a much better system if it's solely pos rep that is an extra little "I agree with you, well said" function.

The anonymous rep system spawned Sniderman, Wincredible Hulk and most recently, The Snidepire.

Anyone who is against anonymous rep is a humourless son of an orphaned piglet.

It was the positive rep commenting which was the problem.

Any negative rep triggered an alert for moderators - positive rep didn't. So yep - fools started to leave abusive comments in positive reps.

Tubes I don't doubt for a moment it was set up with good intent and the neg was a bit of a laugh but since I've been here it's been an issue. As I've said above I see no reason at all to be negative to each other particularly in an anonymous form it just encourages getting round the rules, those saying it's an over reaction have probably never had the sustained abuse - because I and others can tell them that's what has happened.

Clearly this has been seen so lets hope the new system is positive only - can't see a prob with that.

Hahahaha amazing... That's next level sad right there. The Wincredible Hulk is raging FFS

Remove the ability to comment IMO.
