The Esk

Player Valuation: £70m
I appreciate that this is first and foremost an Everton related football forum, however I'm sure there's enough interest in having a current affairs forum under the GOT umbrella.

Save getting the Ale House clogged up with endless political arguments subsequently deleted - a dedicated forum, I'll even offer to moderate it :o

Mods, owners, debt-holders etc what's the view?

A tricky one, especially as far as politics go, as it is such a touchy subject with some members on here. I'd love to debate in a forum like this, with some people on here as I know the majority of them are well meaning, intelligent people, going to a new forum would be daunting for me.

If it happened I'd probably take part to some degree, and I think it'd be a good way of keeping the Ale House segment more "friendly".

To be honest...if t was set up it would be a novelty for a couple of days and then the lids who weren't interested would soon stay away...a bit like the Everton Forum for some... I tend not to go in there too often ..it can be ace or it can be infuriating.... lids will go where they feel comfortable.....also if someone was being a tit in a debate then i'm sure the rest would tell him/her in a nice way they were being a tit. Big words doesn't make a debate remember...it's the meaning of the words spoken.

How about this...

Current Affairs forum - as soon as someone starts trading insults, perma ban from that forum, anything other than sensible discussion, perma ban.

Clear set of rules and if anyone breaks them they know the consequences.

That way, knobheads like me won't get an opportunity to go off-topic, post nonsense.

This then gives people who can have mature discussion to have the chance to do so

Sounds a bit dull.

They get to insult each other loads
in the Houses of Parliament.

I like this, except the "knobheads like me" bit, you're far from it and offer heaps to these sort of things.

Weird one with talking about politics and the like though - if in doubt mate, you can always call me a kellogs special K head in the Late Show x

I have my moments, nothing really bothers me and I forget that it might bother others.

True that, wish everyone was like that, and it bothers me that I would upset a fellow blue, that's always been my reservation about debating touchy subjects. I got into one the other week and wished I hadn't!

When debating politics you just have to remember the other person just disagrees with you. It doesn't make them a bad person. They just come at it from a different point of view. Just have to avoid the name calling and being demeaning. Nothing sets me off quicker than someone trying to talk down to me or calling me a moron or something. I will go full Rambo on your ass if that happens.

I usually swerve it but some things are important and I have views on them.... I hope I don't enforce them on others or dismiss their's childishly...maybe I do... I'm not too sure ha ha but honestly I try not to.

Yeah agree, it's always in the back of my mind why we're all on this forum in the first place. I don't think you insult anyone by the way.
