This is excellent proof of how some people are willing to milk one event for ages.
Point 1 was one expression in a presser (of which he has held close to a thousand) some 15 years ago, the next 4 points was one event, 12 years ago, which yeah, sure, wasnt stellar but lets not pretend that's something more than just business. Marco Silva did pretty much exactly the same thing with Richarlison and Doucoure at Watford when he came to us.

Its just weird how people in business and politics are held to certain (more or less obtainable) standards. Some characters fail them, yet can still easily get away with it as our collective memory is trash, or we the people simply know that theyll stay in power anyway as its not up to us to entrust them with it.
