Richard Keys claims Rafael Benitez tried to leave Newcastle United for Everton twice

How did he bankrupt pool? He didn't get half the players he wanted there and was forced to search the bargain bin.

3rd place and a Europa League is pretty good for a Chelsea side that was being run in to the ground by Di Matteo.

If Rafael was lucky to win the Champions league, how do you explain the Fa Cup, Community Shield and Super Cup, whilst regularly keeping them in the top 4 and also challenging for the title?
The RBS called in the loans the shte had taken out to finance his transfers he bankrupt them

Di Matteo won the CL with chels and with much the same squad Rafael didn't hence he was shipped out smartish

RS fan told me he was lucky in Istanbul - never watched it myself and never will - something about an injury substitution scraping them the draw

The community shield and the super cup are a joke.

He never seriously challenged for the title hence his meltdown over SAF. The monies that club has spent means top 4 should be an expected minimum not a celebrated achievement.

The "great manager" thing in this country doesn't stand scrutiny

I think he was referring to the way we set up against them and other top four teams under Moyes, and he was right. Look at Moyes record against the top teams of the day, and tell me that Benitez was wrong?

I've read several comments on here over the last day that say exactly the same of Moyes. We need to get over that and appreciate that this man is a world class manager that when given the funds can work miracles.

No thanks.
He knew what he meant, and he knew also how it would be taken.
Sorry but that is enough for me.
I think any Blue worth their salt, shouldn't accept, whatever the hour of need, to take on board an ex RedS**te manager, deemed not good enough for them years ago, who made a comment like that, to have any involvement in our great club.

Plenty of other options out there, so they should pick one.

Same for Moyes who dropped us the way he did and had the cheek to low ball us for Baines and Fellaini. Glad he got had off in the end, and I hope that Grim Reaper Costume in the family enclosure haunts his dreams.

Take it you are not keen on Rafael, is that right Dave?

It would be nice if you could break down the achievements of the other candidates as well. In your head, they're probably more successful than Rafael? I guess the two La Liga titles were flukes as well?

Truth is that Rafael is the only manager of the ones linked, that has the quality to bring us back in contention for regular top 6 places.

I've followed Everton for 47 years, but I could'nt care less about his history with the RS. If he's good enough, then that's the only thing that matters.

If only the majority of fans would take this attitude. Some fans opinions are to the detriment of our team. Proof that some fans put the rivallry before supporting the team. For me, Benítez is the stand out obtainable candidate. Experienced, won stuff and tactically astute.

Didn't end up low balling us for Fellaini though, ended up paying MORE than his release clause. :D

Agree with that mate, if he can improve us as a club we should be sounding him out. Ideally I would like Mancini but Rafael would be plan B, pity the club don't even seem to have a plan A.

I have little to no idea about the other candidates but I know chapter and verse about Benitez because he managed at monkey island and revelled in their classless snide. Chelsea fans had the ollies to tell him to do one because of it and the idea supporters of EFC are now so craven and desperate as to not do the same I see as extraordinary especially as his exploits here are so massively overblown.

Stuff in other countries are incidental the English game being a completely different entity proven by his failure to win the Prem despite spending like Croesus..

For what it's worth I'm looking for a motivational thug proven in the prem and preferably with a grudge against the shte - I give you Sean "salah is a diver" Dyche

That was a Woodward move. Moyes was caught between defending his new boss and not peeing of his old club. The fact Woodward was lowballing the likes of Barca, as well as us, speaks volumes. He has since over corrected, and now overpays for everyone to avoid embarrassment

Am sure Sean Dyche is a Liverpool fan.
