Who is bothered about the fee anyway? Liverpool paid 75 Mill for a CB from southampton, anything goes these days. It’s just all about whether he is a good player or not and hopefully this time we’re getting it right.

The football finance stuff bores me to tears, but even I appreciate that resource and investor enthusiasm isn't infinite and see what happened at Villa, Leeds, QPR etc.

There's also a knock on effect with fair play etc.

I think the better argument is the benchmarking element versus other fees, and how bonkers the market is making it difficult to really gauge what a player is worth...
