Confirmed Signing Richarlison

People wax lyrical a out teams like athletico and Sevilla and there recruitment, same now with Roma, none of those really recruits much straight from source so to speak but as the second club in the chain after the players have made the move to Europe in a lesser league.

Thats a fair point mate and certainly true of Athletico (who do this very clinically who sell their best player and find the best like fir like replacement from sides around going back to Torres, Aguero, Greizmann etc). However There has been some buying from source, particularly Roma when you look at where they got Alisson from, straight from Brazil. There is a benefit to it though, and as I've said above it helps reduce the sort of risk you see with lads like Klassen and Sandro (both decent players with good records but not right for the league)

There needs to be a mixed approach. Thats what comes to me from last summer, where ultimately Walsh didn't complete enough of the future deals (I see Zirkzee scoring for Bayern today) and we were left buying from sides of similar size to us too often. There is a time and place for doing that, but it has to be for the right player and we can't be too reliant on it.

He clearly wants a wide player with pace and strength who can help with the press. The player Koeman hoped he was getting in Bolasie. He knows Richarlinson well, they are very close and the player has just turned 21. These are all big pluses (which the likes of Williams, Bolasie, Sigurdsson & Rooney didn't have). If this can be done alongside Tierney/Digne and Mina for me it's very impressive business.

This summer is clearly about avoiding too many risks. I am happy with that. We are losing lots of players, have a new manager and the squad is theoretically at it's weakest point (if everything goes to plan). It is a good time to get someone in who we know what we are going to get.

Going forward, I hope (and think) that we will start to vary our approach. Silva will be increasingly happy with the squad he has and we can hopefully start being more aggressive in who we get from different leagues. That should be Brands plan but we need to get ourselves a little breathing space first.

You can tell some media try to make the worst of our transfer business.

How some outlets can be 10-15m different in reporting is astonishing.

I get sick of the sensationalism and hyperbole.

What we need to be doing is finding players like this ie when Watford found him cheap

That surely is what Walsh was here to do and now Brands

It’s all well and good spending big money on players but there is only so much of a budget and you get more value finding these players cheap.
Not making much of an impact really is he? A DoF who allows the owner to choose the manager and the manager to bring his old player in for the biggest deal we'll make all summer.

Apparently Brands was keen on Richarlison while he was at PSV to be fair

It was £100 mil.

£75 initial
£15 add ons
£10 Rooney "free" transfer

The 15m in add ons around half of that is usually based on trophies or personal accolades. The other half on appearances and goals scored.
The 10m Rooney fee was a con, the guy couldn't do 90mins after Christmas. He had one year left on his contract and was given away for free to america, tells you everything you need to know about that one.

It's likely to be around 85m.

Lukaku was worth around 110-120m at the time, and we were dealing with united, a team that can easily spend that sort of money .

The moment when somebody values Lukaku more than CR7.
